what criteria for an external link in this article ?

edit

I recently edited the external link section to add a link to our french series community forum and website. Less than a few minutes later, the link had been removed, supposedly for 'ad' reasons. Our goal in offering a link to our website is to propose a link 'over the Channel', to leafers from UK. It can be very helpful for people visiting the wikipedia english page about 'land rover series', to find info, help, assistance, about series in france, especially when planning a trip in our country . Even if our community is less important in France than in UK, more and more events are organised in our country, dedicated to 'series only'. Our 'movement' is growing, and even if our web presence is fairly new, it would have been nice to leave our link. My question : On what basis the links on this very page should be selected ? Regards. Based on the Jeep?

edit

The article is ambiguous in its references to the WWII Jeep; it reads as though it was just a Jeep with different trim - which it certainly wasn't. I propose removing the following statements:

"...the US-built Willys Jeep, with which it also originally shared many parts"

(A 'citation needed' note has already been placed on the end of that sentence, and as far as I know the Land Rover does not share parts with the Jeep, so that bit needs to go.)

"Originally based on the US Army Jeep the Land Rover was a single model offering"

This is in the Series I section, and I think it just means the Land Rover concept was based on the Jeep, but the article has already made that clear and this sentence simply confuses things. Mr. Bridger (talk) 17:20, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Now done. Mr. Bridger (talk) 11:30, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article Title: "Land Rover Series" or "Series Land Rover"??

edit

Just curious: If this article says these beloved aluminum beasts are commonly called "Series Land Rovers", then why is the title of the article "Land Rover Series" instead of "Series Land Rover"? "Series Land Rover" would make more sense as a title, in my most humble and honest opinion. Eastcote (talk) 05:42, 25 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Atlantic Conveyor

edit

I've never seen a source claiming AC had "hundreds of Land Rovers aboard". The sources I've seen said she was carrying tentage, helos, material for a temporary strip etc but not Land Rovers. Justin talk 13:45, 21 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Predecessor?

Why does the info box claim the Austin Gypsy was a predecessor when it was released in the same year as the SII came out? 86.12.204.16 (talk) 01:00, 25 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
