Landmass or Land mass

edit

Is "landmass" correct or should it be "land mass"? Or are both correct with different meanings, ie, "a landmass", but "the land mass of" (which may include discontinuous pieces of land)? Nurg 23:04, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I aree. This page should be separated into "landmass" and "land mass" (as described by Nurg). --Adam (Talk) 22:35, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
After searching, I could not find any meaningful difference between the two spellings. Generally dictionary entries say they are alternate spellings of the same word. OvertAnalyzer (talk) 22:54, 25 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Convert to Disambiguation Page?

edit

After extensive searching, I cannot find any reason for a separate Wikipedia article for "Landmass". It is simply a word that refers to any "... large area of land", per Merriam-Webster. Contrary to what is stated in the article, a landmass does not have to be surrounded by water. The only reference in the article does not even provide a definition for the term. I propose this article be changed to a disambiguation page, and direct to the album or the Glossary of geography terms. If I do not hear from anyone regarding the matter, I will make the change. Antarctica landmass value incorrect?

edit

The listed landmass value for Antarctica in this page is 12,272,800 kilometers squared. I have gone to multiple other sources, including the wikipedia page for Antarctica, and the value listed in all other locations is I've found is 14.2 million kilometers squared. So I'm wondering why the value in this page is different. 24.32.81.117 (talk) 00:41, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
