I was surprised at the absence of a links section from this article. May I ask which provision of Wikipedia:NOT (per the comment on "Revision as of 23:03, 12 November 2007") the old links section was in violation of? I've looked over the relevant sections of the Wikipedia guidelines and don't really see a conflict.

"it becomes especially important to preserve it."

In the first paragraph of "Basis" it says "This makes language a vulnerable aspect of cultural heritage, and it becomes especially important to preserve it.". No argument is made to this effect however, and this subjective view probably doesn't belong here (without an opposing one) anyway. Language loss is not the loss of the ability to speak a language, simply the transition to a different language. The same goes with the culture, with one lost and one gained. There is no process whereby people lose their culture or heritage, nor does the pre-existing texts and recordings in the extinct language disappear or become automatically undecipherable.
