Year of birth

There seems to be doubt about Young's birth year. Our article says "1950", based on a source of unclear reliability. Some IP and SPA editors have changed this to either "1967" or "1966". I have searched extensively, but can't find anything solid. Only Wikidata lists "1950", with a reference to a VIAF record, but that actually does not mention "1950" or even any birth date/year at all (showing once more, by the way, the unreliability of Wikidata). The year he obtained his PhD is given in our article as "1994". Comparing this to his publication record, indicates this is likely correct. This suggests that the "1950" year is incorrect, as he's unlikely to have obtained his PhD at the age of 44. So 1966/1967 does seem to be more likely, but which one's correct? I originally added that cite, but am not sure that it is correct. I have found an obituary from another scientific society, but that doesn't mention any dates. Can't find anything else... You're right about the SYNTH above, but I'm pretty certain that he didn't do his PhD at 44, but cannot prove it... Yea, the more I look, the less I find too, lol. I came across that obituary too, but no luck with any dates either. The years match 1960s YOB but no proof so far. Let's wait since the IP claimed to be their son. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 18:03, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
