Own bio page...?

According to an Access Atlanta[1] interview he was a part of the civil rights movement back in the 1960's, that's where the "general" title came from. spiderwing (talk) 11:58, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

According to USA Today's "Idol Chatter" [2] he's the same Larry Platt who was recognized with his own day by the Georgia General Assembly [3] and is documented on the Civil Rights Movements Veterans homepage [4] spiderwing (talk) 12:33, 15 January 2010 (UTC).

I disagree with your rationale, but agree with the end result at this time. If the subject met notability guidelines, this would be plenty of info for at least a stub. However, I'm not sure sufficient notability is established for a separate article on Mr. Platt at this time per WP:BLP1E. It's a fine line, to be sure, because the subject's involvement in the Civil Rights Movement almost places him above BLP1E; you might even say he's a person notable for "one and a half events". Take heart, though, those of you who would like to see an article on this subject: I have the feeling Mr. Platt's history has not been written just yet. Given sustained interest in this event, or even renewed interest in his earlier contributions, we could see the subject meet notability guidelines in the near future. -- JeffBillman (talk) 23:38, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

date of birth?

An anonymous user recently added in January 27, 1947, to the date of birth field in the infobox. No citation is given. Where did it come from? What's the source?

On the show, he said that he was 62 years old, so if we take 2009 (when the clip was filmed) and subtract 62, we get 1947. But what about the actual birthday? The only thing I can find about this is a Yahoo Answers link which points to either August 27 or January 27, but this isn't exactly what I'd call a reliable source. WTF? This link is evidence for the 27th, since he states, "62 years old. This year will be my birthday on the 27th." No month is given, but the show was filmed in August, so one would assume August 27. WTF? (talk) 19:49, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Is it his official site?

At current version, the link on the bottom says, "General Larry Platt's Official Website". Is it really the one or just informative and not an official one?--Orcano (talk) 10:01, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

If you look at the WHOIS information on the site, it appears to be registered by his agent, so yes, I'd say it's official. WTF? (talk) 15:43, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Musical artist?

I reverted this change to the Infobox from a standard infobox to 'infobox musical artist'. While Larry Platt's recent fame is because of a short appearance on American Idol singing and dancing to a song he wrote, I don't think this one appearance really qualifies him as a "musical artist". Furthermore, his fame before that was as a civil rights activist, and the song he wrote has more of a political message. WTF? (talk) 04:14, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

I have removed the section on rumors of his death. This isn't acceptable to be included in this article, as it never happened. If he dies, we add it ONLY after verified sources are available. If there's just rumors, it shouldn't be added. WTF? (talk) 20:54, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
