General re-write
editThis article seemed very strange in the form that it was in.
The question to which this article is the answer is "What does the term 'Latin Mass' mean?". The answer is that "Latin Mass" is (together with "Tridentine Mass") the name used by most ordinary Catholics in the pews, unacquainted with the detail of the somewhat arcane terminology that people engaged in the Traditionalism debate use to talk to each other, to refer to the Mass of the 1570-1962 missals. I've also encountered the term used in reference to the Mass of Paul VI celebrated in Latin.
The fact that other liturgies are and have been celebrated in Latin - and so could no doubt in principle be called "Latin Masses" - would not seem to be relevant unless there is evidence that the term is in fact applied to them. Mentioning them also seems rather pedantic.
I have re-worked the article to reflect these considerations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.40.196.222 (talk • contribs)
Update
editAt the risk of starting an edit war, shouldn't this page have a paragraph reflecting the recent controversy regarding Pope Francis's attempts to restrict Latin usage? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 36.11.228.235 (talk • contribs)
