Astor family

edit

On 31st December 2015‎, I removed an odd claim that Mrs. Lopes was "a member of the Astor family". ‎Monkelese reverted my removal. It is clear that Mrs. Lopes was born into the Parker Bowles family and married into the Lopes family. It is also clear that Mr. Lopes is descended from the Astor family. However, a person is not a member of every family from whom one is descended, let alone a member of every family from whom their spouse is descended. Mr. Lopes is descended from a great number of well-known and influential families, and we could easily increase the length of this article by several orders of magnitude by listing them. He is not, however, a member of any of these families, apart from his own (by which I mean the Lopes family) and neither is his wife. I have again removed the odd claim, and I hope my reasons are clear. -- Oliver P. (talk) 05:21, 29 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Parents

edit

One of her parents is given as “Camilla Shand”. At the time of Laura’s birth, her mother’s name was Camilla Parker Bowles. Is there a reason not to use this name? JDAWiseman (talk) 23:56, 1 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

When presenting genealogical information, it is customary to use birth names or the highest suo jure title. Surtsicna (talk) 00:27, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I wasn’t aware of the custom. And given which, birth name seems most sensible. JDAWiseman (talk) 11:37, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ancestry

This section was removed from the article for lack of references, but it's quite interesting, nonetheless. —capmo (talk) 17:16, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Birthday

edit

Mrs. Lopes' birthday is incorrect. Her birthday is April 19, 1978. I have a copy of her birth certificate from the General Register Office, which I obtained in doing research on the Royal Family. If you would like me to share this, I would be happy to do so, just let me know how. JasonKurth (talk) 17:20, 29 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Step father?

edit

In what sense in Charles her step father? Has he adopted her? Charles just happens to be the man her mother married. The claim he’s her step father seems spurious at best. 2A02:C7C:362A:E200:ED80:CED6:B017:27B5 (talk) 18:44, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

But when you marry a person who already has children, those children become your step children. No adoption necessary — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skysong263 (talkcontribs) 03:53, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why are some people saying that she is William & Harry's half sister as opposed to step sister? Is there suspicion that Charles is her biological father, despite her being born when Camilla was still in her first marriage? I'm confused. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skysong263 (talkcontribs) 03:49, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if there is any actual evidence of it, but there is, for example, this recent YouTubeVideo with over 1.2 million views which appears to be suggesting exactly that. While it might feel plausible, without confirmed paternity test results or official confirmation I wouldn't assume that it's anything more than an attempt to get a lot of views. More charitably, if the channel's operators are not native English speakers it might also be an error in translation - someone misunderstanding that step-sister and half-sister do not mean the same thing.
