He also participated in the evaluation of the MiG-21 fighters that were to be purchased to Finland. He recommended the Finnish Air Force not to buy them, but the deal went through due to political reasons.
Pekuri describes this in his book Hävittäjälentäjä. The fighter evaluated in this case was MiG-19. The reasons for not recommending it were the
handling right after surpassing sonic speed and what seemed lack of missile weaponry of which there wasn't information available. However it is true that political reasons worked for MiG 21 against Mirage III.Noseball (talk) 00:23, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
