little more than a single sentence definition. Should be merged to the parent article until a notable article can be written. RadioFan (talk) 22:30, 17 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Name of the page

edit

Iranian police force is internationally known as Law enforcement force(see CIA fact book, UNICEF and etc) , not disciplinary force nor security forces, so I believe this page should be named Law Enforcement forces of Islamic Republic of Iran.Farzam1370 (talk) 19:39, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

As the sources given clearly showed, there are a variety of terms used. They no longer show this, since you deleted the sources giving the name "Disciplinary Force(s)". However the sources using the term "Law Enforcement", which are not Iranian-linked in their content, are not claiming that is the name of the organization, just using the term to describe what they are. The actual name, as used by the Iranian-linked sources you deleted, as well as if you use a dictionary and translate the Persian, is "Disciplinary Force". If you have paid enough attention, my edit did included the name Disciplinary Force but used Law enforcement Forces as the main name.
You say that Iranian-linked sources use Disciplinary force while below you can see two Iranian source(including IRIB in 2014) using the term Law Enforcement Forces, as I said earlier most western and international sources too use the term Law Enforcement Forces, and by the way I am an Iranian so I am definitely have more knowledge about the Persian language.
Here is the two sources.

Can you give details of which Persian-English dictionary translates انتظامی as "law enforcement"? Mesoso2 (talk) 22:56, 29 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
I don't know about any online Persian-English dictionary, but the word انضباطی in persian can be translated as Disciplinary, while the word انتظامی should be literally translated as order keeping, both of these words are Arabic words which are used in Persian with modification, but the Law enforcement is used by most Official English Iranian and international sources.Farzam1370 (talk) 14:52, 1 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

It needn't be an online dictionary, books are excellent sources, but it needs to be a dictionary. If you can find one your translation seems reasonable, if you can't find one to support your translation then we will need to request further opinions from other editors. Its better to ask further opinions from other editors.Farzam1370 (talk) 14:30, 2 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Here is an online Persian dictionary translating نیروی انتظامی as Law enforcement force, And there is another one which translates two different sentence using law enforcement.Farzam1370 (talk) 14:50, 2 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

FARAJA or Faraja?

edit

We only write all letters in capital when the word is an English acronym; for example: IAEA, which is the abbreviated form of International Atomic Energy Agency. But FARAJA isn't an English language acronym. It is Persian: (فراجا) (فرماندهی انتظامی جمهوری اسلامی). So I think Faraja is correct. Aminabzz (talk) 18:42, 5 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
