A web browser must use a layout engine, but a layout engine doesn't have to be part of a web browser, or indeed have anything at all to do with the web. —Malphas~enwiki (talk)
Malphas, I added your name to your entry from the history because you made an important point and I wanted to quote you on Talk:Web browser engine.
BTW, all pages that link to Template:Layout engines that I've checked are out of date if they describe a general topic or inconsistent in terminology if they describe a particular engine. I'm not even clear if the template itself is for web-only layout engines or any of them. I haven't even looked at the category terminology!
FWIW, even if you don't add any of your talk page suggestions to articles in the future, if you would add references supporting your statements, that might inspire others to finish the job. Just a thought, though. I wish I could update these things myself, but my real-life limitations usually won't let me if research is involved, so I have to post what I can when I can. Thanks for adding this! —Geekdiva (talk) 10:32, 3 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
