editin 1999 audi raced with two diferent types of car: a closed prototype (r8c), and a barcheta (r8r)
Introduction year
editIf LMP was introduced in 1995, then at the 1994 Le Mans page of WSPR-Racing does it list LMP within the categories, as if it was introduced in 1994, even though Gr C cars was used. Willirennen 22:35, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- Actually technically there was an LMP class in 1993. These cars had run in the C4 class in 1992. The359 22:43, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- And regulations were pretty similar to IMSA WSC anyway. --Pc13 10:36, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
"As of 2008"???
editHow about as of 2011? It doesn't mention LMPC or the merging of LMP1 and LMP2. I noticed when I found that ALMS now has P1 and P2 with just 2 cars each. But there is no mention of these "new" classes on any of the pages about ALMS prototypes. In fact, I don't see much about them on the ALMS site. Will (Talk - contribs) 07:52, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

WSC
edit"At the same time, the IMSA GT Championship announced the end of their closed cockpit GTP and Lights classes, deciding as well to replace them with a single open-cockpit class of World Sports Cars equivalent to LMP1."
"LMP1s running large displacement custom-built engines that were usually turbocharged"
WSC and LMP1 weren't equivalent because the IMSA rules allowed only naturally aspirated production-based engines (at least in the early years of the championship). Scott DNA (talk) 14:59, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
Updated The Picture
editthe description says that its "a current LMP1" and "LMP2 Competitor". so I changed them to the REAL current competitors. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro(LMP1) and the Ligier JS P2(LMP2)

Wheel size?
editBoth the LMP1 and LMP2 technical sections specify a wheel diameter of 28 inches, but they both have a different dimension listed in millimetres (710 vs 720). Which one is correct? Real tlhingan (talk) 16:54, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
- It's a problem with conversion function and with decimals. LMP1 specs are 28 in, wich should be 711,1999999999999 mm. For LMP2 the maximum is 715 mm (not 720). But the function converts both 710 and 720 mm as 28in, while 715in is 28.1 in. Funny.Rpo.castro (talk) 10:57, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
