Developing this Article from a stub

edit

Hi, I'm working in the field of learning communities, and will try to contribute to the development of this stub into an article. I've made a small start, and will try to continue over coming weeks. I'd welcome any response to this update. I'm aware of the Wikipedia Project on Communities. Best wishes, ed1vel

Adding to the history of the concept

edit

I've added a little on the history of the concept, based on a single analysis. Clearly there are other threads to this history that need to be added, and the original thread needs editing, referencing and expanding.--Ed1vel1 18:27, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Structuring the article

edit

I have begun to structure the article to accommodate history, research and issues. Much more needs to be done on this, and I will do what I can as the article develops further. --Ed1vel1 18:29, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removing Stub Status

edit

As this article has now been categorised as 'Start Class' I have removed its stub status --Ed1vel1 13:14, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Further Updates

edit

I have made some further additions to the introduction, and will now add to the history. The points raised for inclusion above wil also be addressed in the next update. --Ed1vel1 22:29, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sources of Authority?

edit

This article looks a bit strange in terms of the sources it cites. The 'history' section seems to be based on the work of two people called Wolff-Michael Roth and Lee Yew Jin - neither of who feature in Wikipedia and only appear once in the cited references as the authors of a paper in an academic journal. There is also a section called 'sources' that cites two articles that (as far as I can see) do not feature in the text. Compo (talk) 10:33, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Learning Community Models

edit

Hi. I teach in learning communities, and I'm doing some academic work on the subject. I'm going to try to flesh out some of the sections that don't have too much content yet, particularly the Learning Community Models section. -- InformationLiterate (talk) 19:41, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Editing

edit

Could someone please edit the second paragraph of this article. Specifically the last sentence that begins with "Besides..." I would make some of the edits myself but I'm not even sure what it's trying to say. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.8.214.186 (talk) 00:41, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

---Paragraph removed. It did not appear to be related to the article.D1doherty (talk) 18:25, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

McMillan and Chavis (1986)

edit

McMillan and Chavis (1986) mentioned in opening paragraph but missing from references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iangardnergb (talkcontribs) 19:17, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Possible merge

edit

Consider merging this article with the Learning alliance article. I'm not sure if they address the same topic or just seem similar. Ciridae (talk) 05:40, 26 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

They are extremely distinct. 2001:44B8:233:200:A05D:CBF5:551:2CF4 (talk) 11:49, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
