Other
editThere is a Leavenworth in Washington, so the redirection from Leavenworth needs to be changed.
disagree on the basis that "Leavenworth, Kansas" is frequently referred to in movies and such as "Leavenworth" being the home of the federal prison. Though I do support adding a "this is an article about Leavenworth, Kansas" please see Leavenworth, Washington for information about the Leavenworth in Washington. Underground city?
editThis link: http://www.kctv5.com/news/17126244/detail.html mentions an underground city. I've never been to Leavenworth so I didn't think I should edit the page, but perhaps someone familiar with the city and who knows about this "underground" city should update the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.5.191.3 (talk) 16:56, 8 August 2008 (UTC) I can take a look - the underground portion is an interesting part of the city history but there is a discrepancy as to what they were used for. Some say Underground Railroad while some contend that they were simply storage areas. Finding correct citations even among historians is difficult. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.87.107.194 (talk) 13:31, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
History
editOn the wiki page "Bleeding Kansas" there is a statement, "Pro-slavery settlements were established by these immigrants at Leavenworth and Atchison." The history of Leavenworth deserves mention. Chocolate cliffs (talk) 23:08, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Suggestion
editthat this article be deleted because everyone who lives in leavenworth hates it and this entry is sugar coating the fact that we have a huge drug problem as well as violent crimes —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.135.31.38 (talk) 23:12, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Articles Needs Work
editI can't believe a city of this size has such a poor article. Someone needs to cleanup the intro, add more history, not make it sound like a realtor advertisement, add lots of missing sections. Add more photos. Sbmeirow (talk) 17:45, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Wollman Rink
editIt's pretty notable that Wollman Rink in New York City is named for a Leavenworth family. The item was deleted here. That's a pretty draconian action -- especially since the reference was the New York Times.Americasroof (talk) 16:41, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Removed Ricardo Flores Magón
editThe "History" section included a short paragraph about Mexican anarchist Ricardo Flores Magón, who died in Leavenworth prison in 1922. Since his only connection with the town of Leavenworth appears to have been that he died in the prison, his presence in the "History" section for the town of Leavenworth seemed to be a clear case of undue weight. I removed him from here for that reason. I looked for the most appropriate place to move the paragraph, and found that Magón is already included in List of inmates of United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth. —Mark Dominus (talk) 15:09, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
