Content rescue
editThe article "The Nobs" was hastily re-directed by non-admin TenPoundHammer with the edit summary that it had been merged with this article, which was a clear lie as no content was added/merged following the re-direct. I made a very hasty attempt to rescue and merge "the nobs" content with the brief content-crossover that existed in this article. I emphasize 'hasty' and request someone review my quick content paste to se if I left any duplicaation or if I left something out that should have been kept. editI'm not quite sure why the page I created for "The Nobs" would not be a notable freestanding article, and 'Led Zeppelin 1970 European Tour' would be. The incident surrounding the use of Led Zeppelin's temporary name was noteworthy and detailed enough to include many specifics. Despite including legitimate references for my sources, the article I created has basically been modified (removal of important points regarding use of "The Nobs"), extended, and simply given a different title. Someone felt it was significant enough to make all the changes for a redirect - Because if it's not, then it should be deleted altogether. A more reasonable explanation for all of these alterations would be appreciated. Yobbo14 (talk) 01:55, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yobbo, it was a classic case of rushed AfD. I tried but it appears some people have decided it should stay a redirect, even when there was no previous discussion on this Talk page why it should be one. It should never have gone to AfD without discussion first. See my complaint here: Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive450#The_Nobs. XYZ (band) was also targetted by the same editors involved. MegX (talk) 02:17, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
I still feel the deletion/modification of the original article is unfortunate - AND it should also be noted that significant information regarding the origin of "The Nobs" name was removed. I'm certainly not an everyday contributor to Wikipedia, but when I do contribute, I attempt to provide insightful and interesting information for the public at large. For those who participate more frequently (and are professional in this endeavor), it's easy to recognize the frustration involved when your work is mutilated. For those who tried to assist in salvaging the original article, I sincerely appreciate it. Yobbo14 (talk) 03:20, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- Are you Edelmand under another account? Yobbo is Australian slang. I noticed that the original editor for this article was him and that the information, before The Nobs article was "merged", is almost the same (including the same factual error). MegX (talk) 09:18, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- I only have one account. I am the original editor for "The Nobs" article...which was then altered/merged by someone else. Yobbo14 (talk) 01:57, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
I can confirm that Yobbo14 is not me! Edelmand (talk) 13:28, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
