Mangin Kaserne rather than Lee Barracks
editThis military location was known as Mangin Kaserne when I was stationed there in 1955. It was then located in what was known as the the French Zone. I was a message center clerk for the 259th Field Artillery Missile Battalion (Cpl). We moved there from Ft. Bliss, Texas, and took the first corporal missiles overseas. I assume the US Military used the name the French had given this military base after taking control of Mainz in 1945 which was Caserne Mangin, but used the German Kaserne rather than Caserne. It must have been given the name Lee Barracks sometime after the 259th was shipped back to Ft. Bliss in 1956. Lewie915 (talk) 20:08, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
