• Comment. Both articles are new enough and long enough. No copyright violations detected. No issues found at all in the Leif Strand article. I'm a bit concerned over the historicity of the Head bumping article. The first source cited describes it as an "ancient Scandinavian sport" which is not what our article claims. I think we would need to have Scandinavian sources for this article. What we have here are a bunch of articles from 1927 America all sort of intellectually related to Leif Strand, and sports reporters grabbing onto a personal claim that is eye catching. It's not really clear that these are intellectually independent or that a great deal of research went into verifying the accuracy of the claim (ie verifying what head bumping is within its cultural context). In looking in google books and newspapers.com I'm seeing references to skull fights in the 19th century, so I am wondering if the article is even accurate as to when this was a thing in the United States, let alone in Europe.

Since the one source calls it "ancient", I'm wondering if this was an officially recognized sport in Scandinavia or if it was just an informal cultural practice with a long history. Either way, the presentation in our article wouldn't be historically accurate. I'm having difficulty locating a source that is definitively clear on the topic (perhaps it has a specific name in Sweden/Finland/Norway?). For me this is bordering on the WP:OR side without having something that clearly addresses this sport from within the culture(s) it comes from. The sourcing here is rather thin. I can go ahead and approve the Leif Strand article if that is what is preferred, but without significant sourcing improvements to the Head bumping article I won't be able to approve that one as its likely to get pulled at WP:ERRORS in its current state.4meter4 (talk) 20:50, 29 August 2026 (UTC)

Approving Alt1 only. The closer should be aware that Head bumping has been withdrawn from DYK by WikiOriginal-9 in their alt1 proposal which leaves out skull fighting as a linked article. The DYKmake credit for Head bumping should not be included when this is promoted.4meter4 (talk) 13:43, 31 August 2026 (UTC)
