Ref: notability Tag
edit- If as Tikuko claims there are multiple issues. What are they? Tikuko needs to list them so that they can be address.
- Editors evaluating notability should consider not only any sources currently named in an article, but also the possibility of notability-indicating sources that are not currently named in the article. Notability requires only the existence of suitable independent, reliable sources, not their immediate citation.
- will add more references for notability later this week when I have more time. Robcamstone (talk) 14:47, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- They are listed, directly below where it states there are multiple issues. As far as the tag, when I google "Lena Zavaroni And Her Music" all I get is links to her site, blogs, and youtube videos of concerts, none of which are reliable, verifiable sources, as indicated in the page you linked to. --TKK bark ! 14:03, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- You can not justify attacking a new article because google let you down. Maybe you should stick to reviewing articles you know something about.
- I note you have not provided any way for editors to address your concerns. the use of the notability tag on its own is not a very constructive way to go. It just stating the bleeding obvious.
- As Stated above I will add more references for notability later this week. Robcamstone (talk) 14:47, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know where you get the impression that I'm "attacking" the article. I'm tagging it for maintenance so other editors can work on it. As you said, I am only stating the "bleeding obvious". As far as "reviewing articles I know something about", if this is truly notable, then I wouldn't need to know anything about it, because some searching on the internet would provide me enough information to edit/review the article. And adding more references is great, remove the tag when you do. --TKK bark ! 14:52, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Notability
edit- Notability has been an ongoing issue since at least 2013. Sources were apparently added and a tag was removed. I am commenting here because of previous comments. Comments are also in the parent article at Talk:Lena Zavaroni#Additional related articles. Silence and consensus ends when something on Wikipedia is challenged.
- During the discussion at that time "attacking the article was mentioned, as well as that an editor:
- "should consider not only any sources currently named in an article, but also the possibility of notability-indicating sources that are not currently named in the article.", and
- Notability requires only the existence of suitable independent, reliable sources, not their immediate citation.
- It is apparent since that time there has been a lot of changes on Wikipedia or there was a series of statement errors.
- Current policies to include "No original research" as well as content guidelines govern article content and notability criteria.
- WP:V states:
All material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists, and captions, must be verifiable. All quotations, and any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged, must include an WP:inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the material. Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed. Please immediately remove contentious material about living people that is unsourced or poorly sourced.
- WP:SOURCES states:
Base articles on reliable, independent, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy.
- WP:SOURCEDEF provides
Reliable sources may be published materials with a reliable publication process, authors who are regarded as authoritative in relation to the subject, or both. These qualifications should be demonstrable to other people.
- WP:BURDEN (verifiability policy) states:
All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution.
- No original research (policy) states:
The prohibition against original research means that all material added to articles must be verifiable in a reliable, published source, even if not already verified via an inline citation. The verifiability policy says that an inline citation to a reliable source must be provided for all quotations, and "for anything challenged or likely to be challenged"—but a source must exist even for material that is never challenged.
- There has been some confusion that as long as a source is, maybe, or should be, out there in the world somewhere, that qualifies as satisfying the criteria. I have a fairly good track record with creating articles (many still need work), working with AFC as well as AFD, and that has not been the case as long as I have been an editor.
- However, sources that were previously hard or impossible to find on a search can "crop up". Some browsers seemed to be biased toward international sources. I did open 12 to 20 tabs (looked at all the albums) trying to find sources specific to this subject (not passing mention), that was not primary and not primarily about Lena Zavaroni. I hope there are some sources that can be brought to light but I surmise that this subject very well should be merged to the parent article with a redirect. -- Otr500 (talk) 23:45, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
