Famous remark
editIt would be useful to mention his remark, when he became aware of apparent differences at the top in Germany in July 1914: "Wer regiert in Berlin - Bethmann Hollweg oder Moltke?" (Who rules in Berlin - Bethmann Hollweg or Molkte?") Norvo 01:17, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
NPOV
edit"As the ultimatum required acceptance of all ten demands, Serbia's refusal forced the Austro-Hungarian government to declare war on Serbia on 28 July." This is completely revisionist POV. More credibly, the ultimatum was deliberately made unacceptable for any sovereign state to accept, with the expectation that it would be rejected and the anticipated rejection to serve as a casus belli. The almost total acceptance of the ultimatum was largely viewed at the time as a underserved acquiescene to unreasonable and arrogant Austrian demands, and indeed resulted in debates in Vienna over whether to go to war, or not. In the end the decision was taken to go ahead as it was feared in Vienna that it was the 11th hour to crush Serbia before it became to strong to invade later. S not really a case of poor old Franz Josef being "forced" to invade Serbia because it, essentially, didn't roll over for Austria's expansionist ambitions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.31.136.182 (talk) 13:12, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
