Leptopterygius Huene, 1922 had to be renamed Leptonectes by McGowan (1996) because Huene's generic name was preoccupied by the fish genus Leptopterygius Troschel, 1860, and thus Leptopterygiidae had to be renamed Leptonectidae Maisch, 1998. The title of this article should therefore be renamed Leptonectidae.
