"Loosely" translates as...
editI have removed the unnecessary qualification "loosely" from
The villa's name is a French term which loosely translates to ‘beautiful waters’.
"Beautiful waters" perfectly and adequately translates "Les jolies eaux" in every sense required by "translate". French is not some mystical and ineffable language which cannot possibly be translated to other languages; if there were, hypothetically, some other, missed but important connotation that was somehow relevant to the current context, then it ought to be mentioned explicitly.
