Queers Against Israeli Apartheid protest
editMay I ask why you feel the need to suppress the truth about an actual event that occurred at the LGBT Community Center earlier today, March 3, 2012? The event happened, there is no dispute that the QAIA group protested inside the LGBT Center and that piece of information is directly tied that section of the page which talks about ongoing Israeli-Palestinian issues at the center. If you continue to suppress the truth about an actual event that occurred at the center, i will seek mediation from Wikipedia. The event happened and is verifiable by the people there and the photos taken. - monitor 321 — added by Monitor321 (talk • contribs) 06:17, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hey there! I see that you're fairly new to Wikipedia, so forgive me if I sound condescending, but I'm just trying to explain a few things. For the sake of coherency, posting the same message in two places isn't the best practice; in this case, it's best to post on the article talk page. When posting on a talk page, you can sign your post by using four tildes: ~~~~
- There are a number of policies and guidelines that govern editing on Wikipedia, and it's worthwhile to familiarize yourself with them. In the edit summary reverting your most recent edits, three of these are mentioned: WP:RS, WP:NOTNEWSPAPER, and WP:UNDUE. Basically, the information not only needs to be verifiable, but from a reliable source as well. But beyond that, in order to justify the inclusion of this content, you have to demonstrate its relevance to the article and give it its proper weight. In this situation, I personally don't think one protest merits a mention in an article about this organization. Why do you think it's appropriate to include information about this one protest in an encyclopedia article about the center? -- Irn (talk) 19:05, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
To follow up on your response, the facts about the protest tie into the Israeli Apartheid Week controversy section of that page, since this week in 2012 is Israeli Apartheid Week and the protest happened there, and it was an anti-israel protest. so that is why it is relevant and should be posted, for the world to see what the continuation of a subject already spoken about on the page is - monitor 321
- Inclusion of material is justified and regulated according to WP policies. Discuss in terms of the policies mentioned above, and see WP:V generally, WP:SECONDARY specifically, and WP:NOTSOAPBOX, seeking WP:CONSENSUS rather than WP:EDITWARRING, then moving on to WP:DR as needed. I agree with Irn above, that this is a minor event lacking significant secondary coverage and fails WP:WEIGHT. AV3000 (talk) 12:29, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

- Yes, leaving the issue of WP:WEIGHT. (Consider the WP:10 year test.) AV3000 (talk) 17:01, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

History section is very detailed
editI'm wondering if this article needs so much in-depth history about the building itself? I'm not sure readers are interested in that much detail about the building before it became the community center. Rainsage (talk) 00:47, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
