More information, and a missing track

edit

As mentioned on the talk page for the article on the Cheers album, here’s more information. I’ve been researching stuff on this band ever since I discovered them a few years ago.

The songs “My Heart’s the Same” and “Victoria” were both originally recorded by the band’s lead singer, Ben Thornewill, for his first album, The Beauty of Absolutes, as the second and third tracks respectively. The full album (except “Costume”, for an unknown reason) is playable here on BandCamp, last I checked: https://benthornewill.bandcamp.com/album/the-beauty-of-absolutes-2006.

Similarly, “Good Day”, “Hold It In”, “Beady Eyes on the Horizon”, “Victoria”, and “A Matter of Time” were released together on an eponymous 2007 CD prior to this album, in that order (although two track titles were shortened to “Beady Eyes” and “Matter of Time” on it).

This link on the Wayback Machine shows an article from the now defunct Brightest Young Things online magazine: https://web.archive.org/web/20080222182754/http://www.brightestyoungthings.com/music/getting-a-little-bit-excited-with-jukebox-the-ghost/. This article is an interview with the band members about the CD.

An issue I have with this article is that there is no mention whatsoever of the downloadable bonus track that came with the first few prints of the album, “Ariel”. Although there doesn’t seem to be an official upload to the band’s YouTube channel of the song, an unofficial upload of the audio can be found here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sPDx37QZXb8. Please add some mention of it technically being the 13th track, or at least any mention of it at all. Thornewill sings the song, and it’s 3:44 long. MiraFenn (talk) 06:28, 31 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
