Vandalism removed

edit

I removed a whole lot of vandalism from the page about a NN 14-year-old soccer player. Please do not revert this article with this info. Wildthing61476 (talk) 17:59, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Help Organising

edit

Please help ensure my links and footnotes are in proper form, I research without much problem, but listing the references in correct form does not come with ease. Thanks. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 22:38, 16 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

There is one document that I can not make out: http://msa.maryland.gov/megafile/msa/speccol/sc5400/sc5496/008700/008777/pdf/lewis_charlton_landrecord.pdf It is a land record from 1867, probably for the school, but I can't be sure. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 21:04, 17 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sources and Conflicts

edit

I found two different published narratives of his life along with census data from 1850, 1860 and 1870 and some of the information differs slightly in details just as what work he did at certain times. Other details have been omitted such as his father living to be 121 years for them seem implausible for the times. My thought is that as he told his life story to be written by others, it could be an error, either in the retelling or in the recording of his words; of course, the fog age may also have clouded the memory of such details as the narratives did not come until Lewis was in his 60s.C. Use of terms Negro and Cripple

edit

Though these terms are now considered pejoratives and offence to many, they were the 'polite' terms for the time and thus included into this historical piece to maintain the contextual nature of the biography to the period. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 23:24, 27 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Deed

edit

There is a document that I can't make out.[1] I believe it to be the lead for the land that the school occupied and a church as well. I have no records on the church so help would be appreciated. ThanksC. W. Gilmore (talk) 01:13, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
