editRe. a previous comment while redirecting this page to Liege (province)
There is no doubt that this is the English wiki. However, the majority of the English language sources I consulted (both on the internet and in books) spell the name as Liège. D.D. 11:36 Jan 30, 2003 (UTC)
There is NO French ethnicity - there are Walloon, German, Dutch background. Lots of so-called Walloons are Frenchified Germans and Dutch.
editThe following needs to be gotten rid of: "It is an area of French and German ethnicity"
Whilst there is indeed an historically German ethnicity within Liege (politically one could call it 'German Liege' Cf. so-called 'Walloon Brabant') there is no such thing as a 'French ethnicity' in Liege but Francophone/French-speaking Walloons, Dutch and Germans, NOT ethnic Frenchmen. Andorra is also officially listed as a Francophone nation but this does not make the folk there of 'French ethnicity'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.71.12.127 (talk) 20:17, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Needs at least a byword on GERMAN LIEGE area so to speak (cf. 'WALLOON BRABANT')
editTo talk of a 'German Liege' is way more historically sound than the officially cooked up "Walloon Brabant" in the 1990s. An hundrefoldtimes more should 'German Liege' bear weight over the upcooked 'Walloon Brabant'. Bytheway, is it known how the German-speaking bits within Liege province are officially and everdayly by Liege officialdom and her(?) theed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.1.69.20 (talk) 21:17, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

- Liège Province → Liège (province)
- Namur Province → Namur (province)
- Hainaut Province → Hainaut (province)
- Antwerp Province → Antwerp (province)
– "Province" is used as a disambiguator, it is not part of the proper name. Articles about other Belgian provinces do not contain "Province". Marcocapelle (talk) 10:11, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:NATURALDISAMBIGUATION. The Google Ngrams clearly show that all 4 of these terms are used in English language sources. Rreagan007 (talk) 18:17, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose for the exact same reasons as above; not much more to add. RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 14:46, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
