• I would mention she was born in China very early on. It's not apparent why she moved to Singapore from Beijing otherwise. Potentially "Li Jiawei is a Chinese-born, Singaporean table tennis player"

• "The medal comes 48 years after Tan Howe Liang won the country's first and only medal to date, a silver in weightlifting at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome." Needs rewording since no longer the only medal.

2008 Olympic games

• It seems extremely long in comparison with the rest of her career. I would suggest this section is very WP:RECENTIST. E.g. these details don't seem necessary
  • "At the Beijing Olympics, table tennis team events are played in a best-of-five-matches format. Teams play two single matches followed by a doubles match. If there is no winner after these matches, the teams play a fourth singles match, and if necessary a rubber match to determine the winning team."
    • Comment: Before I started expanding this article I wasn't at all clear about how a team tournament works, and I thought that a little background for readers in my position was helpful. — Cheers, JackLee 05:45, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

• This section should match the rest of the article. Either expand previous tournaments or trim this one.

Medals

• Wow. It's bigger than the rest of the article. Not sure that's a bad thing or not.
  • Comment: This seems to be because table tennis players play in a lot of tournaments every year, and she has achieved medals in quite a number of them. Li Jiawei's biography page on the Beijing 2008 website even has a note to the effect that the list of her medals is incomplete due to space constraints. — Cheers, JackLee 05:45, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

General

• Numerals and units need a non-breaking space per WP:MOSNUM.

I'll put it on hold for the time being, but I would suggest a bit of work is needed to balance the article up. I'm also concerned about the size of the lead. Although it just about matches the WP:LEAD guidelines, the medals table, which is obviously list format, takes up a lot of the size. Peanut4 (talk) 23:34, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
