Why new article
editI decided to create this page due to two reasons, firstly, the Libyan air force was eliminated during the civil war, and the Free Libyan Air Force is the only air force in Libya, and as such is just the Libyan air force now. Kspence92 (talk)
Move?
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: No move; the consensus is that a merge will be the best solution, rather than a move. That can go ahead without administrator action, and discussion can continue at the appropriate target. Cúchullain t/c 20:31, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
Libyan Air Force (2011–present) → Libyan Air Force –
- There is no need for a disambiguation page when there are only two articles, as hatnotes are more suitable as per WP:DAB. There is also no need to distinguish the current air force from a previous air force in the title, in the same way that the German Air Force article is not marked (1956-present) to distinguish it from its WWII-era predecessor. -- Smurfy 01:23, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- This move was much disputed in early April 2012. Or text-merge with Libyan Air Force (1951–2011) as page Libyan Air Force? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:31, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- Support, mostly: Why the statement about "Only two articles"? We have Free Libyan Air Force, Libyan Air Force (2011–present), and Libyan Air Force (1951–2011). Still, I think it's reasonable to move the article on the current air force to "Libyan Air Force", although it would be a good idea to merge some content from the other articles into this one. If the other articles have to stay, is there a more "natural" title that we could use for the Gaddafi-era air force? bobrayner (talk) 12:00, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- Merge all into one article. This is about the Air Force of the Republic of Libya. In the aftermath of the revolution, this has presumably taken over the facilities of the pre-revolution Air Force. The article will need a section dealing with the Free Libyan Air Force, with a main link to that article. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:29, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
- Merge. Per Peterkingiron. There should be one main article on the Libyan Air Force. Any historical periods should be dealt with in the article itself or in sub-articles like history of the Libyan Air Force (1951-2011). I doubt that's actually necessary at this point, though. - Merge seems like the logical choice here. Also, from a page use report, it seems like the 2011-present is the least viewed page overall. Tiggerjay (talk) 20:04, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
Merger
editAs the consenus was to merge the articles about Libya's air force, I will do it now. It is the best alternative. --IRISZOOM (talk) 16:07, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
