Okay so, I'm almost completely new to this. I don't even remember why I signed up for Wikipedia in the first place, but it was a while ago now. That said, I'm overwhelmed by all the rules, policies, and unknown cultural norms of Wikipedia. A bot removed my YouTube link. The thing is the YouTube clip seems to have tons of valuable information about LifeHand, but it's in Italian. I was hoping we could find someone to translate it and then we could link to that. Are there Italian Wikipedians who could perform this service to humanity? Would an externally hosted transcript pass the bot test?

Also can you help me with formatting? I'm not trying to butcher the Engadget and Physorg external links' formatting on purpose. I just don't know how to properly formatting. I'm surprised at how archaic the Wikipedia word processor is. We need some Google Docs up in here.

Not a bot. Not trying to cause trouble. Just trying to build this article. It seems like it has the potential to be a really compelling article.

Confusion continued

I searched it.wikipedia.org for "LifeHand" and it didn't turn anything up. Perhaps it's called something else in Italian although the researchers kept referring to "life hand" it sounded like in the YouTube clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPKICNClKxI) It seems like there would definitely be a Wikipedia article for such a cool 3 million dollar research project funded by the EU. Am I wrong? Does an Italian Wikipedia article exist? When do I get to read about this in Wired? Ted Wheeland (talk) 03:26, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Source Question

Breitbart and Physorg are hosting the same AP press release, I guess. What source should be kept and which should be deleted in this instance? It seems redundant for Wikipedia to host both links when one will work just fine. Although this question alone is more data than hosting an extra hyper-link.

How do we show the world what LifeHand looks like?

LifeHand isn't something to just read about. It's something to experience with pictures and video. It's something impressive that deserves a proper article. I came to Wikipedia hoping to learn more about it and was amazed when there was only a stub about it. Unfortunately when I emailed them, I got this wretched auto-response.

Anyone have any ideas on what the error message means? I Googled it, but there were no easy answers -- just mumbo jumbo.

Alessandra Tarantino and more picture questions

I added Alessandra Tarantino as one of my Flickr contacts because the AP cited her as a photographer of one of the images . I also sent her a Flickr mail asking for permission for an image. Is it a good idea to have one large format image of LifeHand under a CC license? What should I be asking for exactly? Am I going to get in trouble for hosting this on WikiMedia? I've already read a bit about the legal rules of uploading, but what about the "inclusion vs exclusion" rules? Am I just wasting my time? When can an article get its own image? Hi. There are different kinds of permission for posting images. As long as you make a good faith attempt to follow the rules, I don't think there will be any problem.

As far as which source to use for an AP article, that's up to you.

The best way to learn formatting is to look at the source code of articles, and see how people do it.
