Limber

edit

A few days ago I created the page Limber, which now directs here (or will in a few minutes). Here are the images from that article:

Perhaps someone can see how to properly fit these into this article?

Merging Caisson (vehicle)

edit

And by "merge" I really mean make it a redirect, since it's just a stub and there is far more information about the use of caissons in funerals on this page anyway. If there are no complaints, I will do that tomorrow. Foxmulder 20:49, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

OK, done. Foxmulder 16:28, 11 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I tried to put the thing in some military context and least let people know that a limber is more than just a pole. Sorry I was so CW centric, bu there is where my expertise and a lot the material. Ian Hogg has a great photo of US 75 mm gun, behind a liber, which of course is described as a caisson. Any questions or sugestions? Junglerot56 04:42, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

'In Addition'

edit

In addition to hauling the artillery piece, the limber also hauled the caisson

Does that mean that a limber would haul a caisson and a gun, or that some limbers hauled caissons, and some guns? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.40.81.165 (talk) 16:37, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Each gun team consisted of the gun and its limber, plus a caisson and its limber. This gave the gunners four ammo chests (two on the caisson and one on each limber). 24.61.4.237 (talk) 14:36, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

If gun carriage is to be redirected here there needs to be less focus on land artillery or a more all-encompassing title. Or should "gun carriage" be a separate topic altogether?
