Balance
editThere is currently a lot of criticism of Homer in this article, which may or may not be justified. I wonder if this could/should be balanced by referenced mention of her achievements at the various councils and civil service departments in which she has served? Wavehunter (talk) 21:43, 12 February 2015 (UTC).
- The criticisms detailed are findings of various bodies, which it would have been remiss to omit. We await with interest the outcome of her latest, currently unconvincing, performance in front of a parliamentary select committee in which she attributes constraints on the conduct of HMRC to agreements with the French authorities which constraints the French authorities fail to recognize. Optymystic (talk) 13:41, 13 February 2015 (UTC).
- Point taken, Optymystic. I don't advocate the criticisms being removed, and would support somebody adding to them should new information emerge. I just thought that someone in the know (and with references to back up their knowledge) might be able to shed some light on why she's been appointed to so many top-level positions. She must have done something right to get where she is! --Wavehunter (talk) 13:17, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Optymystic and Wavehunter: As a political observer since the 1960's and a believer that democracy only works if and only if all parties believe in fair play, I am deeply suspicious of what is happening here. A cynic would say we have someone in a position to deny benefiting the supporters of one party by plausibly professing incompetence. She first ignored what appears to be election fraud in Birmingham and second failed to pursue those apparently evading tax. Her achievements have been rewarded. Whilst I'll keep my views to myself I intend to add to the criticisms. Regards JRPG (talk) 12:56, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
- On Radio 4's PM Programme today, Margaret Hodge repeated some of the criticisms levelled again Lin Homer here. There is understandably more praise for Homer in the HMRC press release announcing her departure: Lin Homer to step down as HMRC CEO in April. --Wavehunter (talk) 21:03, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for that WH. I'll have a go at writing it up reflecting the mood of the wp:RS press. Feel free to chip in.
