The following English names used at the official Slovenian government page differ from the names currently used in Wikipedia. We should use the official English translations. — Eleassar my talk 11:19, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Lipa (political party) → Party Lime Tree
- Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia → Democratic Party of Slovenian Pensioners
- Zares → Party for Real

- Unreserved oppose. We don't do "official names" - WP:OFFICIALNAMES. I can't find the names you claim on that site, whereas I can find Lipa and Zares on the English site if I click on, say, constituencies. Even if they names proposed are on that site, the use of one web designer makes for neither "official" usage or, far more importantly according to our policy, common English usage. Just compare on Google:
- slovenia party zares - > 19,000 results
- slovenia "party for real" - 120 results
- slovenia party lipa political - 3,870 results
- slovenia "party lime tree" - 1(!) results
- This is a complete non-starter and an excellent example for future reference of how notions of quasi-officialdom and word-for-word translations do not make common English usage, and at worst lead to neologisms. Knepflerle (talk) 12:00, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, the correct address is http://volitve.gov.si/dz2008/en/index.html. It also has to be taken into consideration that the proposed names are in English, while the current ones (except DeSUS) are not. --Eleassar my talk 12:16, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- You've missed the point absolutely. The current names are the English names because they are what English speakers use. The names you propose are not what English speakers use. Putting English words together in a way English speakers do not is not English. Using English words to refer to things English speakers have other names for is not English.
