Sources / Reliability

edit

Hello, Please prioritize reliable sources from academic specialists on medieval studies and the Almohad period in particular. Ex: Maribel Fierro [1], or Medhi Ghouigate [2]. And no cherry-picking from general sources that talk about history over a broad period, not focused, like B. Frankel, History in Dispute: The Middle East since 1945 ... see recommendations : WP:SCHOLARSHIP, WP:SOURCETYPES and WP:RSCONTEXT. Regards. Monsieur Patillo (talk) 08:49, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Skitash Hi, can you explain your revert? and start a dialogue before deleting?

I don't recall saying anything about sources. Your change just doesn't make sense. What's the point of asserting that "It should be understood more as "language of the inhabitants of Maġrib" and, more specifically, "language of the inhabitants of Maġrib al-aqṣā". It seems that it was spoken over much of the Atlantic plains of Morocco."? The current lead makes it clear that it was indeed a language spoken in the western Maghreb. You've introduced bad grammar and used the present-tense for some reason. Skitash (talk) 16:24, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Firstly, I am not closed to a reformulation on your part. I did not deliberately use the present or the past (this is something you could have fixed without reverting.).
My modification simply aims to introduce the definition given by academics sources. Currently the article is written to make the reader understand that this dialect was present only in the Atlantic plains of Morocco. While the definition given in the sources is less categorical, because this dialect concerns the inhabitants of the Maghreb and more particularly those of the Maghreb al aqsa (Ghouirgate).
I also did not understand your revert of the transcription of the current reference #3 (revue Awal). I only reported what the source says.
I think that introducing the topic with a non-focused and non-specialized source, without a review like History in Dispute: The Middle East since 1945. , is not the best way to approach the topic in the article. Monsieur Patillo (talk) 16:37, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
