Why is this article in a completely different format to every other list of panel show episodes? --Cwmxii (talk) 09:22, 21 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've revamped it to match; also the Channel 4 page has the series & episode numbering in the source code, so I've used that to fix the series order also. --Quuux (talk) 09:29, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Quuux Where on the Channel 4 guide did you find the episodes marked by series? I can't find that, even in the source code. But being outside the UK limits what I can see. I think this needs updated, because I am not finding any other sources suggesting that all the 2016 & 2017 episodes are all in Series 9. That doesn't fit Channel 4's normal convention at all, either.
Does anyone know if the TVDB is considered an okay source for Wikipedia? I did some searching and couldn't find any indications on whether it's accepted as a valid source or not, since it is user-updated. CleverTitania (talk) 02:31, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
I agree that it makes little sense, but you can see it there by looking at the screenshot URLs also e.g. http://ic.c4assets.com/brands/8-out-of-10-cats-does-countdown/series-9/episode-28/025345be-c72e-4a3a-8f78-ab0c6a95cc3d.jpg
The raw data is in the accordian section e.g. 09x28 as <li class="episodeAccordion-section accordion-section" data-reactid=".13is0ecnfsq.$s-9-e-28">
TVDB is usually the most accurate of the episode scrapers, but since Channel 4 is the primary source of the show I went with their numbering despite it being slightly obfuscated. Quuux (talk) 02:57, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for clarification. This is what comes from NOT being a coder - I didn't see any of that until I searched for exactly what you put here. I was looking for patterns that would yield series #'s and couldn't find anything. Obviously I agree Ch4 is the primary source and what we should go with, weird as it may be. Come on guys, does it really make sense that series 9 had episodes that aired 17 Feb, 24 Apr, 1 May, 22 Jun, 29 Jun, then series 10 started with 8 Jun and 6 July?? Especially if it is buried deep in some code somewhere and not listed on an official C4 Cats Does Countdown webpage? It could be what it was initially intended to be/filming dates as opposed to the official series/episode numbering. Can we not change series 10 to start either 24 April, or 8 June 2017? Feudonym (talk) 02:45, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
It's directly shown in the image preview URLs – on the official site – so it seems pretty canonical to me. Quuux (talk) 07:20, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
So series 10 aired before series 9. OK then. Feudonym (talk) 01:57, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah this is a mess. How can the single mash up rematch be considered an entire series? It's literally one episode. Who ever is listing them on C4 is probably just putting any random thing down based on the order they receive them or something. Cause the current series sure as hell isn't airing at the same time as the previous series. That's just wrong.Aluminium Colours (talk) 09:42, 24 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
The mashup is not listed on the C4 site, it's just part of mashup specials and not part of the series run. Quuux (talk) 07:46, 25 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
My point exactly. Series 1 on this list consists of Channel 4 Mash-up 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown - The Rematch. Series 2 then shows the first series.Aluminium Colours (talk) 14:15, 30 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Well, they've added numbering to their page and it's completely different (ironically the image number is still unchanged) Quuux (talk) 07:02, 19 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

So wrong it's not even funny. C4 said the ep starting 18 August 2017 was a new series yet it says ep3 for it here. And eps before and after each other being back and forth previous and current series. Ughh.Aluminium Colours (talk) 03:31, 3 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

I know, I tried to get it changed but the guys here were having none of it - due to "image preview URLs". Go figure. Feudonym (talk) 01:48, 17 September 2017 (UTC) Feudonym (talk) 01:48, 17 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Image preview URLs have no foundation over an official episode guide written by the creators. This page needs a complete overhaul. The stubbornness to keep it this way in spite of the creators own episode guide it just foolish.Aluminium Colours (talk) 22:18, 30 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
The episode guide only recently added episode numbering, and someone has already done 6 seasons Quuux (talk) 10:12, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

I see you have sort of discussed this already But if you look at http://www.channel4.com/programmes/8-out-of-10-cats-does-countdown/episode-guide Their episodes go up to Series 14 Episode 5. So the list here is all wrong. Furthermore the episode list on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8_Out_of_10_Cats_Does_Countdown is different again. That list needs to be removed completely with just a link pointing here. Nobby fuzzy 18:32, 15 November 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nobby fuzzy (talkcontribs)

Channel4 are now listing the episodes correctly at: [1] http://www.channel4.com/programmes/8-out-of-10-cats-does-countdown/episode-guide The list in this article is correct up until 07x07 then needs changing completely from that point onwards. I haven't the will to do this but it really needs doing. Anyone want to take this on? Nobby fuzzy 20:11, 27 December 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nobby fuzzy (talkcontribs)

Why changing the legend of the episode list?

edit

The background always indicated who won and who lost from the beginning of this article. Why change it now? Dynamo384 (talk) 15:13, 22 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Because it's more valuable information for the viewer to recognise the type of an episode than spoil which team won whereas winning or losing isn't that important in the spin-off show — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.146.250.59 (talk) 06:15, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

It isn't really spoiling when the score is mentioned.. Thanks for explaining tho, I'll leave it as it is. Dynamo384 (talk) 08:38, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
