Color/B&W data missing
editAlthough the essential data is (currently) available elsewhere in WP, it seems odd that this list does not inform the reader which episodes were filmed in B&W and which in color. Surely, at the least, a summary of that information in the introductory text is warranted. 66.249.173.87 (talk) 21:08, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

- Thanks, Wyliepedia. But I have two problems with that 1965 date, which does not appear in the web cit (I do not have access to the cited book). The first one I just addressed with an edit—the show was certainly being syndicated (in B&W) before 1965, and I assume a blanket statement to the contrary was not intended. I grew up in LA in the 1960s and got hooked on the reruns in 1961; the contemporary TV listings in the LA Times will confirm airings in that year. Furthermore, my family got a color set early in 1965, and subsequent airings in that decade were still in B&W in that far-from-backwoods market. I first saw episodes in color on a visit back to LA in 1980-1981, at which time the station airing them made a big deal of the fact that they could now be seen in color. So it appears that the color masters were not dug out of the vaults and aired until way later than 1965, but that is only my uncitable own-experience OR. 66.81.105.232 (talk) 10:11, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
- P.S. I see that the lede of the main Adventures of Superman article likewise recites the 1965 date (see its first paragraph; I have left it alone for the time being), but under "Media information/Copyright dates" that article says "... During the first decade of reruns, when all episodes were still shown in black and white ...", which is true enough as far as it goes and, according to simple arithmetic, directly contradicts that strange 1965 date. 66.81.105.232 (talk) 16:23, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, IP address. If you're referring to the Scivally book, the footnote links to the relevant pages stored at Google Books. And it doesn't really support a 1965 date. As you can read for yourself, the book notes that filming began to done in color in late 1954. It then states that "A decade later, when color TV sets became more common, ... ". That appears to be the only rationale given for the 1965 date and, of course, it's an extremely dubious one. In all, the 1965 date looks to be both dubious and unsourced. If you agree, feel free to remove it. NewYorkActuary (talk) 18:44, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
