Talk:List of Ariane launches (2020–2029)

Launch statistics graph for outcomes should distinguish A5 from A6 if A6 launches in 2023

edit

The launch-outcomes histogram just has success/fail - but for 2023 and after there should be A6 launches. If A6 launches in 2023 and any fail it won't be clear which configuration failed. Less of a problem now A6 is so late that there isn't the planned extended overlap. - Rod57 (talk) 10:15, 7 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Is this a List article? or prose?

edit

The most recent Ariane launch, the first launch of an Ariane 6 launch vehicle, has a rather vast amount of prose included in the list. This is quite different from the character of this particular LIST article, and is not in keeping with MOS:LIST and MOS:LISTBASICS. It is clearly not the sort of material normally considered for a list article, and would perhaps be better placed elsewhere in Wikipedia, in another Wikipedia article somewhere, or in a prose section of this article. Some launch lists have a subsection with more prose detail in a "Notable launches" subsection, so that could be one way to handle the excess prose and return the list to a list. But all of the prose is also entirely repeated in the Ariane 6 article as of 12 July, so it is also redundant prose in Wikipedia; something that is generally to be avoided. I don't see any problem with having a long description of this particular flight. It was the first flight of the rocket, it had ten different payloads, and it suffered a failure at the end of the mission. All of these points require more text to be explained properly, and most entries in this list will not be as long. And the prose is repeated on Ariane 6 because that section is an excerpt from this article, so it will necessarily be the same. Agile Jello (talk) 18:15, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
