Split
editI intend to split out the larger genera families to sublists titled List of (Family) of South Africa. If anyone has a better idea, please let me know. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 07:51, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
Families to split out include:
- List of Asphodelaceae of South Africa
- List of Hyacinthaceae of South Africa
- List of Iridaceae of South Africa
- List of Orchidaceae of South Africa
possibly others if the remnant is still too large
- I support. Onetwothreeip (talk) 20:09, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- I plan to do this when I have finished the basic lists of orders, which is a bit short of halfway done. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 06:06, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- You may find it easier to maintain the lists after they are split. Onetwothreeip (talk) 19:47, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

- I support this as well, the length of this article hinders finding information. User:Heyoostorm_talk! 17:23, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Heyoostorm, What information were you looking for, and how did the length of the article hinder your work? Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 07:13, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry for the ambiguity, I wasn't personally looking for information. I was just saying that generally, if someone was looking for one specific family/order on this page, it would be hard to find. User:Heyoostorm_talk! 15:10, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- Heyoostorm, The whole article is about listing the species and infraspecies in one order (Asparagales) recorded from South Africa with the names used at the time, and their currently accepted identities. That should be clear from the title and lead, but if you have any suggestions that may make it more clear, please let me know. The families of the order are the level 2 headers and are listed alphabetically in the table of contents. Does this need further clarification? Just because it is obvious to me does not necessarily mean it is obvious to everyone. Any suggestions? Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 07:33, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
- Onetwothreeip, I have split out List of Iridaceae of South Africa as intended. Does this seem to be an improvement in usability? Do you have any suggestions for other improvements? I intend to split more out if it seems to be helping. Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 07:33, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
- Looks good. You clearly know how to split articles correctly. I encourage you to continue. Onetwothreeip (talk) 08:08, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
- Done will remove the notice. Anyone may suggest further splits of similar kind, or do it them themselves. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 10:05, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
