One of the convictions of Rolf Harris was quashed. His accuser was a fantasist. One of the convictions re his principle accuser was when she was 19, which hardly makes her an underage girl:

editMajor POV issues here!
- Like the USA, Australian "criminals" are generally non-white (usually Indigenous, and/ or "Black"), from poor and broken families, and usually have little education, poor or no advocates, and poor or no social organization(s) behind them. - There is a difference between "most" and "disproportionately". If you are going to claim that most Australian criminals are non-white, then you really need to back it up with references.
- Most of them are claimed to be "Reformed"; successfully graduating to the "Eleventh Commandment": THOU SHALT NOT BE CAUGHT - You wouldn't see this in Britannica, would you? :-/
- Yet to be properly criminalized are war crimes, ecological crimes and some breeches of public duties (company directors, etc). There are still many behaviours legally considered non-criminal, but suffer worse results than publically defined "crime". These unrecognized crimes include "defamation" (where truth and free speech are not legally allowed), reporting or knowing of anything putatively "terrorist". This last criminal category was created in 2006, and results in secretive, unending detention by the Federal government, without any crime nor conviction being provable nor necessary. - This is certainly not NPOV.
I have removed this blurb as unnecessary ("crime in Australia" might be a better place for it) and POV. If someone wants to work on it, then by all means try to salvage something from it! TheGrappler 15:49, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
David Hicks
edit--203.173.14.68 09:36, 23 July 2006 (UTC) Whilst David Hicks is on this list, he has not actually been convicted of any crime.
Frank Vitkovic
editHow can he be listed as "convicted". He went out a window and died minutes after he committed his crimes.
Wade Frankum 1991
editHow can he be listed as "convicted". He allegedly shot himself in the head and died minutes after he committed his crimes. Also Mr. Cruel--if he's still unknown, I doubt he's been convicted. I'm deleting him from the list.71.63.119.49 01:20, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
List of "serious crime"??? Why not white collar and court related crimes?
editThe heading of this list states it's a list of serious crime. Who's to say what is serious? If it is a recorded criminal conviction, isn't that serious and worth listing? There are a lot of famous financial crime types... Rene Rivkin, Alan Bond, Christopher Skase, Glenn Wheatley, Rodney Adler etc. Then there are crimes like "Contempt of Court", which resulted in a criminal conviction for radio broadcaster Alan Jones. And, don't forget the numerous politicians who have criminal convictions (I think there's already a list for that). I believe that if there is a criminal conviction, then it is serious and should be listed. 210.84.33.31 04:29, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Fraudsters going unrecognised
editFor anyone who's interested, here's a list of convicted Australian fraudsters who don't yet have Wikipedia pages in their honour... Simon Hannes of Macquarie Bank: Jailed for 18 months in 1999 for insider trading Brian Quinn of Coles Myer: Jailed in 1997 for fraud and served just over 2 1/2 years for spending $4.5 million of shareholders' funds on renovating his own home. Russell Goward of Westmex: Jailed in 1998 for two years for making false statements about share trading. Ken Jarrett of Elders IXL: Jailed for six months on fraud charges. George Herscu of Hooker: Jailed in 1990 for bribing then Queensland minister Russ Hinze (all these descriptions are taken from the Sydney Morning Herald) ...and... Noel Crichton-Browne - Former WA Liberal senator fined $8,000 after pleading guilty to travel rorts charges. Karen Ehrmann - Former Queensland Labor candidate jailed for nine months for electoral fraud
Graphic needs updating
editThe "graphic" (sorry, I don't know what it's officially called) that appears on the criminals' Wiki pages needs an update. It has links for murderers etc, but does not mention fraudsters, even though there is a long list of fraudsters. 203.217.52.219 08:16, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Child sex offenders
editWheatman has denied many childrens rights in many ways. He rencently revoked the the charges from a child that now is extremly angry from those's extractions. He has caused many aggresive reactions in assocciated denials to his allegations. I hope he will learn to live with himself as they are still learning to do so! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.168.192.180 (talk) 14:14, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
Bernie Brown convicted murderer
editHas anyone heard or can find any information about this event I have done a search and come up with nothing. The original contributor seems inactive and only made a small number of contributions. I have doubts about this listing. --Matt (talk) 00:56, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Double entry or not
editI have spent a bit of time cleaning this list up, providing it with references and removing dubious entries. A double entry is valid for some people that have committed two separate crimes, however many offences are committed simultaneously, should they only be listed under the greater offence. Others Carl Williams is a good example, I removed him from the serial killers section as his crimes were primarily drug and gang activities and I am not sure killing of the opposition is a serial killing, yet murder is his greater crime although I could rename that section multiple murderers, I would be more comfortable with that. What do you all think Matt (talk) 01:14, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Michael Kanaan and Tim Anderson
editThis list is seriously deificent by not including these two criminals. Tim Anderson's place in history has been airbrushed.
- I have added Michael Kanaan, you could also do this, perhaps you would like to link Tim Anderson to the Sydney Hilton bombing. The beauty of wikipedia is it is a community collaboration, your entry would be like this [[Sydney Hilton bombing|Tim Anderson]] placed in the appropriate section, I hope you join this community and enjoy editing be bold and make the changes you want to see Matt (talk) 02:29, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Proposal to remove entries without articles
editI propose that all list entries with red links or no wikilinks should be removed. This would include all those which are well referenced but where the criminal has no article. I think this is in line with most other list articles, where we only include entries with their own articles. Does anybody disagree or object? --DanielRigal (talk) 22:09, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
- user:DanielRigal I agree. Meters (talk) 18:35, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
- No-one objected to your proposal, so I've done the cleanup. Meters (talk) 18:45, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
- And cleaned it up again. Meters (talk) 04:36, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- If anyone wants to write articles on these the ones removed for having no articles at all are [1].
- I've also removed entries which were redirects to articles about notable crimes. This is a list of notable criminals, not notable crimes. Entries removed are [2] if anyone wishes to write articles for those criminals. Meters (talk) 05:19, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Article has poor objectivity.
editAustralia's two worst gangster were both women; Tilly Devine and Kate Leigh. They are not mentioned in the article. I fail to see why Corby is classed as a major league criminal when she only has one conviction, and it was not in Australia.61.69.153.10 (talk) 01:16, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
