Criteria
editI changed to also allow for people who played in the WAFL/SANFL as those are the highest competition levels in the non Victorian states, and which effectively is equivalent to F/C cricket. —Moondyne 08:32, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Ted Pickett notable enough?
editI noticed that people who played football in Tasmania are included on this list. Would Ted Pickett, who represented the Northern Tasmania Football Association against visiting VFL sides, as well as wicketkeeping for Tasmania, be notable enough? --Roisterer (talk) 02:00, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Good question, I was thinking the same thing when I first saw the Ted Pickett article. I originally added the sentence on the eligibility of Tasmanian players in order to include Rex Garwood on the list. Before that this list was restricted to the 'Big 3' leagues, SANFL, WAFL and VFL/AFL. I reckon you should add Pickett to the list and at the same time replace the sentence on Tasmania with something like 'First-class cricketers who played football in other states are eligible if they had a notable career in the league'. Something like that anyway. Cheers. Jevansen (talk) 07:42, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Mark Colegrave
editTo challenge the criteria even further, what do u guys think about the eligibility of Mark Colegrave? He played in a couple of TFL Statewide premierships (and played FC cricket for Tassie). Jamie Cox also played league football at Wynyard but it was only for a year or two so that would be pushing it. Jevansen (talk) 00:05, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- I think Colegrave fits criteria without question. Player in a senior first-class league, let alone being in a premiership team. No doubt about it in my mind.
VFA
editThe 'nation's premier leagues' should include the VFA. This would add a range of information and players.
Jack Worrall - Fitzroy VFA captain 1886–1892 Les Joslin - Yarraville Trevor Laughlin - Mordialloc Rodney Hogg - Northcote Merv Hughes - Werribee Peter Bedford - Williamstown John Scholes - Sandringham Brendan McArdle - Northcote Laurie_Nash - Camberwell Des Fothergill - Williamstown Fred Chapman - Coburg — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.179.226.146 (talk) 04:58, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
