editA list of all the BSDs I've found and have been active recentlyish.
Terminology - I wasn't sure what words to use to distinguish things like Free/Net/OpenBSD, and those based on them: 'distribution' indicates forking in the Linux world. These 'redistributions' usually aren't forks.
Other BSDs - not sure about Mac OSX and Darwin etc. Also I'd like this to be a list of existing BSDs, not stuff like BSD-386 etc.
Other wiki pages - The Comparison of BSD operating systems page has many of these but not all: I wanted to list as many as possible without getting involved in all the details necessary for that comparison table.
Please feel free to make additions. -- 9ulk 01:10, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Debian GNU/kFreeBSD, Ging and Debian GNU/NetBSD are not BSD operating systems as they are GNU variants. I'm not sure about Gentoo/*BSD. -- mms 20:22, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- GNU/k*BSD are hybrids: GNU-derived userlands on top of BSD kernels. Therefore they could arguably be categorised as either GNU or BSD OSs. Letdorf (talk) 14:23, 22 February 2008 (UTC).

editThe Snarl link points to this article. I am wandering if this is a spam link. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.235.20.122 (talk) 23:22, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to 2 external links on List of BSD operating systems. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20100425054137/http://www.freebsd.nfo.sk:80/maheshaeng.htm to http://www.freebsd.nfo.sk/maheshaeng.htm
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.fireflybsd.com/
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

QuackyBSD
editI have removed QuackyBSD again. There is as of yet no sign that it is anything more than an obscure April Fool's joke—a presumably exact copy of the FreeBSD 11.1 codebase (minus post-release security patches) with “QuackyBSD” substituted for “FreeBSD” in a few places. Commercial sounding descriptions
editA few of the entries, I've noticed, are more sales pitches than descriptions (e.g. "Whether you want...") - and I wasn't sure about this, or if it needed a warning at the top like I've seen before. Dan Dart (talk) 11:05, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
