editAs noted in the article's hidden text: Refer to Wikipedia:Notability — particularly Wikipedia:Notability (people) or, when evaluating the creator's work, Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) — to assess which contributors were notable enough to warrant inclusion in this list to avoid violating WP:NOR. Unless the creators' own articles make their notability as Bat-creators clear with proper citations, external sources will need to be cited to support each creator's inclusion (WP:CITE). Merely having written, drawn, or edited works involving Batman do not indicate notability within the character's history.Doczilla 20:02, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Title
editAssuming this doesn't constitute original research, shouldn't this be titled, "Notable Batman contributors"? -- Robocoder (t|c) 13:18, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe. Comics professionals use the word "creator" regularly, though. The OR issue is a big concern. Wikipedia has notability standards, though, and as a note hidden in the text points out, citations will become necessary. Doczilla 16:25, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
I see no reason why this should even be an article. I see no other related articles like such, and it's not organized well. I think this should be merged with the article on Batman, not a stand-alone. Jjmckool 18:04, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- 1. Wikipedia has notability standards. Therefore, it is not wrong to apply them. 2. The Batman article is long enough. Doczilla 20:27, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
perhaps Bruce Timm should be included- his work on the tv series can't be ignored. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.229.90.148 (talk) 05:13, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Editors
editAlthough - as yet - he doesn't have an article, editor Jack Schiff had as much of an influence on Batman as many of these individuals (albeit the sci-fi, Bat-Mite stories). Julius Schwartz is simialrly a vital influence on the character, and he oversaw the 1960s jetisonning of Bat Mite, Ace the Bathound, etc. ntnon (talk) 04:11, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Useful
editAlthough this may be a somewhat moribund list, i think having such lists for major comics franchises makes sense. including it in the template also makes sense. I would like to see a "list of spiderman creators", etc etc for the major comic franchises. the list for superman is not well fleshed out, unfortunately, but this one is pretty good. the templates for the franchises usually only list the first 2 creators, which doesnt really reflect the scope of the franchise. the templates, after all, are NOT solely about the superheroes themselves, but about their whole world, which includes hundreds of other creators of other characters and settings, including redesigns and reimaginings of characters.(mercurywoodrose)66.80.6.163 (talk) 19:04, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
