League leaders and champions

Should teams who finished top that were crowned champions be on the league leaders list? Could be confusing having some clubs being listed as league leaders during a playoff era and league leaders when they were actually champions during first past the post era Northern Wonder (talk) 13:57, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

Yes, they were still league leaders. And no, this is a seperate list on a seperate article with the criteria for this list set out in the article lead aswell as how this list differs from List of British rugby league champions. If you think the criteria set out in the lead of both articles isn't clear feel free to add clarity.

The creation of this list was done after a couple of discussions (see 1 and 2).

Whilst the creation was determined not to be the optimum outcome it was done as no other solutions was proposed. At current this is the best solution for presenting the teams that finished first in regular season which is how it is presented in the lead and is better that what we had previously where there was partial lists in two different places.

Finally, I don't understand the obsession with removing league leaders information during times of no playoffs. It's a nonsensical thing to suggest that when X=Y X didn't happen. It would make slight sense if it was a seperate award during playoff years but this only became the case in 2003. Mn1548 (talk) 18:51, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
