Clean up

Hello, I'm trying to clean up this page. I'm trying to get more articles out there about inspirational fiction authors. I just added the "Amish/Bonnet" fiction genre and went to CBD for their top 50 list just to get some authors on there. I could think of a handful, but I knew there would be more. I'm not sure what the criteria is for how important an author has to be in order to be listed, but I think more rather than less is a better way to go about it. If anyone thinks some of the authors are too obscure, feel free to remove them. I saw there have been instances of authors being removed because they don't have their own pages, but I don't think this is good criteria. If an author gets published, they deserve recognition, in my opinion. My viewpoint is that of an inspirational fiction fan, and when I look at this page, I want to be able to find my favorite authors and be able to find others who are similar. I also think inspirational fiction needs more of a presence on Wikipedia, which is one of the reasons I joined.

I am really new here, so please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong or stepping on anybody's toes. Wikipedia told me to "be bold", so that is what I'm doing! Any help is very much appreciatedĀ :)

I'm not sure how to make a group and how they work, but if anyone wants to work together on this quest (for this page and for author articles), please let me know. I would like to have blurbs about the different genres on this page as well, and maybe even a page for the genres? I know "bonnet" fiction is really a phenomenon, and I'm sure we could write something on that. As of right now, for this page, I'm going to focus on getting more genres added and I'm going to try to get them as specific as possible (for example, historical fiction as well as Civil War fiction). Again, if anyone is interested in working together on something, please let me know! BookBard (talk) 17:47, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

WorldCat Genres

Hello, I'm working with OCLC, and we are algorithmically generating data about different Genres, like notable Authors, Book, Movies, Subjects, Characters and Places. We have determined that this Wikipedia page has a close affintity to our detected Genere of christian-fiction. It might be useful to look at [1] for more information. Thanks. More Work

This is good idea, but it needs a lot of work. For example, the list is missing some of the most important writers of all time such as John Milton, J.R.R. Tolkein, George MacDonald, G.K. Chesterton, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Dorothy Sayers, Lew Wallace, Stephen R. Lawhead, etc. Frank Peretti did ground breaking work in his Darkness series (this Present Darkness, Piercing The Darkness). Joel Rosenberg comes highly acclaimed from radio personalities such as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. I wouldn't categorize Steven James as allegory, his belongs more to the genre of suspense/thriller, largely being based on serial killers. Pastor and lawyer, Randy Singer writes legal suspense. Then there is the former agnostic, Andrew Klavan, who has had some of his books adapted to film. Then of course there is Catherine Marshall (also absent from the list) who had her novel, "Christy" adapted into one of the highest rated television series of all time. Also, Robert Liparulo does adult and youth fiction, not children.

Other Christian fiction writers include: Maria Isabel Pita, Evan Angler, Wayne Thomas Batson, Chuck Black, Terri Blackstock, Stephen Bly, Pearl S. Buck, Colleen Coble, Brandilyn Collins, Bryan Davis, Athol Dickson, Shannon Dittemore, Tim Downs, Gene Edwards, Chris Fabry, Sharon E. Foster, Jonathan Friesen, Cliff Graham, Lorie Ann Grover, G.A. Henty, Homer Hickam, T.L. Hine, Douglas Hirt, Angela Hunt, Irma Joubert, Tim LaHaye, Margaret Landon, R.J. Larson, Kathryn Lasky, Jerel Law, Ross Lawhead, Jon S. Lewis, Bryan M. Litfin, Paul McCusker, Josh McDowell, Gilbert Morris, Bill Myers, Chuck Norris, Mel Odom, Craig Parshall, Donita K. Paul, Andrew Peterson, Paul Robertson, James L. Rubart, Charles M. Sheldon, William Sirls, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Lee Strobel, Jeff Struecker, Lis Wiehl

Be encouraged! Keep up the good work! Quintessential1 (talk) 19:30, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Sub-genres?

Should we just have the authors listed by name? That is what they did with the list of historical novelists [1]. I wonder if that might be better because some genres have a limited number of people, some write in multiple genres, some of the genres are not mutually exclusive, and some would argue what genre some books belong in.

Regarding the previous comment about missing authors from the list, we edit Wikipedia, so I figure if people think others need added then they could especially if there is a source that makes them count as noteworthy as per Wikipedia policy [2]. -MysticalFairyAstha (talk) 07:13, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
