Talk:List of Commander in Chief characters

Latest comment: 14 years ago by Arbitrarily0 in topic Requested move

Neither of the characters in this television series are sufficiently notable to justify their own articles. As such, the following articles should be merged into this list: Mackenzie Allen, Teddy Bridges, Jim Gardner (Commander in Chief character), Warren Keaton and Nathan Templeton. List of Commander in Chief charactersList of Commander in Chief (TV series) characters — To eliminate confusion with being a list of characters that hold the rank or title of "Commander in Chief", of which there are many in fiction. It also matches the naming of the main article Commander in Chief (TV series), which is not at the title "Commander in Chief". 70.29.212.131 (talk) 06:42, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Oppose - A rename to List of Commander in Chief (TV series) characters would be inappropriate. A list of commanders-in-chief would not include the word "characters", would have an "s" at the end of "commander", and would have both "commander" and "chief" lower-case. More importantly, disambiguators are only added to article titles to distinguish them from other articles, not from other potential articles. There is no list of commander-in-chiefs, and even if there was, there would be no need to rename this article; the other article would be called List of commanders-in-chief and a link to each article would simply be added to the other article in a hatnote. There is also no need for the disambiguator simply because the main television series article employs it; Orange production in Brazil should not be renamed Orange (fruit) production in Brazil so that it matches the main article Orange (fruit). There is no need for this kind of conformity; it unnecessarily complicates the title. The current title is fully acceptable. Neelix (talk) 13:00, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
