Reason for Existing

I have to admit that the speedy deletion notice went up a lot faster than I expected, but I figured that it would come. Long story short, the idea for this article came from viewing Dartmouth College Greek organizations. As DePauw University has a very high Greek per capita, and as this particular aspect of the school has been gaining increased media attention (especially with the DZ controversy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Zeta#DePauw_University_Controversy), I just figured that a seperate article for the matter made sense. While pretty trim right now, I intend to add much more in the next few weeks and hope to see others with an interest on the subject add more information for the areas they know as well. Eventually, I'd hope to see each chapter have a quick paragraph long segment giving a brief history and linking to its homepage. Further, I would also like to see a mention of the defunct/closed chapters, but as the only one I know about will be DZ in a few weeks, I did not include that here. RPH 05:03, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

I've changed the deletion template to a proposed deletion. This will give you some time to adhere to the guidelines of WP:VERIFIABILITY, Wikipedia:Independent sources and Wikipedia:Notability. JoJan 14:05, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

The speedy deletion template wasn't removed. Upon further examination, I think there may be some merit to this as long as the article will get up to spec. I've removed the CSD template. -Cquan (talk, AMA Desk) 15:33, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh, one more thing. One of the ideas I was thinking about doing would be to include pictures of the various chapters that have their own houses on campus and placing them on this page, as is done for several chapters at the Dartmouth page. What exactly is Wikipedia policy on the matter? Should I search for images of the buildings online, or would it be appropriate to take digital pictures myself and upload them? Finally, do you have a link to the Wikipedia page on how to upload/place pictures? That's the one area of Wikipedia that I've never been too comfortable with, so if I were to place images here or elsewhere I'd like them to actually look good rather than like a haphazard mess. It continues to exist

Call it the article passing the first up-down vote of its pledging. :)

I think that, in comparison to Dartmouth College Greek organizations, DePauw's Greek system is notable enough to justify its own article. That said, it needs expanded; like Dartmouth, it needs prose talking about each of the chapters on campus--except for Delta Zeta, who earned themselves their own article.

That said, what I'd like to see in a month's time is at least three chapters with good, fleshed-out sections about them, since it sounds like you've got some ideas on how to develop the article. If there's progress, everything is good. If not, we start depledging--I mean, I send the article to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. :)

Sorry for the lack of work done to the article. Unfortunately, my computer was on the verge of crashing so I had it taken in to be checked. I should hopefully be able to do some work on the matter in a couple of days. User:RPH
