list-item notability standard

Hi, User:Superstrongboy, I see you've been putting effort into developing this list-article, including adding wikilinks to at least some of those having wikipedia pages, and including adding footnote references for some others. I hope you will understand, though, that list-articles like this get scrutiny from other editors and it is often decided to drop all items that seem non-notable. Where non-notable may be defined as not having a separate Wikipedia article (i.e. having individual topic Wikipedia-notability) and not having a supporting reference that proves its significance. We may presume every church has a regular website or a Facebook page, and just adding a link to a church's own website is arguably not enough. Other book or newspaper or other published coverage may be required. That said, adding links to the churches' own websites does seem helpful to readers, though not establishing notability automatically. And for me, a website like this one for St. Euphemia Greek Orthodox church in Bankstown, Sydney, which you added, does sort of support its significance, because the website includes photos of a pretty elaborate interior and decent outside architecture which makes me think that some outside coverage about it will exist. Other editors might not agree though.

Another thing you could possibly do is build out tables, including coordinates and photos where available, but maybe that should wait until list-item notability standard is more settled.

Ones that have past or current buildings listed on a heritage register will almost always be okay to keep, because there will exist historic site nomination documents and/or other proof of certification of significance by "experts". By the way, I happen to work mostly on U.S. places listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), and I have built many list-articles by starting out with the NRHP-listed ones. I wonder if you could find your way to the official lists of places listed on Australian states' and nation-wide historic registries, to search for all the Orthodox churches that are listed? For a while in the past I was familiar with how to find and search all of those registries. E.g. i worked some on List of heritage places in Fremantle, which has some churches listed but I don't see any Orthodox ones. Maybe/probably Orthodox churches are not as old and otherwise not as much recognized in historic registries in Australia, i wonder. --Doncram (talk) 00:25, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Historic registry ones

This is historic registry info about "Church of the Holy Annunciation, East Melbourne, built in 1901, ...of historical significance as the first purpose built Greek Orthodox Church in Victoria....". It is listed in the Victorian Heritage Register. I don't see it in the current Draft list yet.

Searching at http://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-bin/ahdb/search.pl for the word "Orthodox" in the "Place" field yields that and 8 other hits. All should be included into this list-article, if they are not already, and references/links to their historic registry listings will support their significance. --Doncram (talk) 00:52, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
