Season 2 Finale

edit

Why is February 6, 2014 listed as season finale of season 2? On Feb 6 episode 15 launched but there should be another 9 in this season. So one of these two informations is wrong. --176.199.143.61 (talk) 15:16, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Loosely" based

edit

Why use the term "loosely" based in the intro? Seems to me it's very closely based, since all the characters are named after and are similar in character to characters in the original. It's set of course in a completely different time period and setting etc. "Loosely" is used to describe Apocalypse Now but in that case it seems more fitting, since Kurtz is the only character named after anyone in Conrad's novel, I think. And Kurtz in the movie is only superficially like Kurtz in the novel. All "other" characters in Elementary, starting with Watson, are fairly closely based on Conan-Doyle's tales. Clearly, Elementary is different from movies that attempt to recreate the Conan-Doyle stories precisely, but "loosely" doesn't seem the best characterization to me. juanTamad 23:09, 25 April 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jtamad (talkcontribs)

ep51 "Just a Regular Irregular" numbers

edit

Was the puzzle prime number math in this episode real? Who created this part of the script? Is there a detailed explanation somewhere? -71.174.175.150 (talk) 13:31, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Elementary Live Tweet (Nov 13): Just a Regular Irregular
Belphegor’s Prime: 1000000000000066600000000000001
.Madmen’s @richsommer returns as Harlan Emple, shirtless mathematician!
.Cicada3301 is a real game. The other one is fake. But puzzle hunts are a real thing.
.Cicada3301 is really cool because it’s super hard and no one knows who sponsors it or what the prize is.
.This is the first time we say the word “Irregular” on screen. It’s from canon, the Baker Street Irregulars were urchins who helped SH.
."Mo Shellshocker." You can play at home.
.Again, the WPA mural thing is based on real events.
.I wrote tonight’s episode, which was directed by the excellent Jerry Levine.
.All the math in this episode is real. Don’t worry. I can’t read it either. My math skills have faded since college.
.All this math and the way it was laid out was also a matter of some discussion. Tricky. But I think it plays.
.I wrote all of these math blogs, so if you get a look at the screens at any point, they’re pretty fun to read.

ep 519 High Heat delayed

  • Elementary ep 519 High Heat
@cbs.com> Mon, Apr 10, 2017
Dear Viewer,
Due to the Masters running over by 1 hour, CBS dropped the new episode of Elementary for everyone in the country. Elementary is not scheduled to air April 16th. The episode from last night will air on Sunday April 23rd.

Well, it appears CBS figured out they will have to run an episode on April 16th if they are going to make their announced finale date in May. Otherwise, they would have to run two new episodes in one evening.

There was an episode on April 9th, number 19. I watched it the next day, when it was torrented by several thousand people [1] And yeah sure, "pirate bay is not a suitable source", yada, yada. but, it is easy to verify, so go do so! Then, ask yourself, if e19 is not airing until the 23rd (3 days from now), how can I have seen it already? Inzy (talk) 09:00, 20 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
The episode broadcast on the 9th in the U.S. was a rerun of 504, the result of a major golf tournament that ran overtime. Torrents are hardly reliable sources, not to mention illegal, so asking editors to go check is absurd. Regardless, you may have downloaded a rerun, or 519 was carried on time in Canada and torrented from their broadcast. Doesn't matter. It was broadcast in the U.S. on the 16th, and that's the date that goes in the article. --Drmargi (talk) 12:10, 20 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Ep summaries being copied from ImDb

edit

I will wait about a wekk for them to be rewritten without using copywritten material before I start purging them entirely, forcing a rewrite. Clock is ticking. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 20:15, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Which edits are you specifically referring to?
Given that IMDB episode description pages are essentially just a quasi-wiki for IMDB members -- whose contributions are not time-stamped -- how do you know which is the original and which is the copy in the case of identical phrasing at both places?
Disclosure: I have already been erroneously accused of plagiarism both here and on my talk page by Jack, both apparently involving bakerstreet.wikia duplication of my edit here, with said bakersteet.wikia phrasing mistakenly considered the original by him when I attempted to restore my own edit. Despite being corrected both here and on my talk page, he has not acknowledged his mistake and thus permits a "poisoned atmosphere" to linger.--Froglich (talk) 08:01, 10 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
It would be helpful if you were to identify the episodes you refer to, Jack. I think it will also get people moving faster, if we don't have to hunt up which ones are plagiarized. Froglich, nothing suggests this relates to your edits; please try not to make this personal, and confine your comments to the issue, not the editor. ----Dr.Margi 08:39, 10 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
"nothing suggests this relates to (my) edits" here; however, the sum total of his plagiarism accusations in recent edit commentaries, as well as alerts on my talk page (both linked initial reply above), certainly lead me to think so.--Froglich (talk) 17:43, 11 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
That's odd; the official source i thought i had seen isn't there anymore. On the possibility that I had misread the material, I am withdrawing my copyvio accusation, and offer my apology. I thin others have pointed out that, regardless, the content can't be in, as its essentially reading tea leaves. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 04:58, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
It's not reading tea leaves when the linked source contained the words "brain-tumor" as part of its very URL, and whose article's first sentence reads "...Sunday’s finale cliffhanger, which left Sherlock possibly facing his own mortality...".--Froglich (talk) 07:26, 16 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
But that's not what wrote in your edit. The name of the game is quoting and paraphrasing. DonQuixote (talk) 20:34, 23 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Season 6 Episode 2 Air Date

edit

Although the source does say May 6, will this episode not actually air on May 7? May 7 is a Monday, the night the show airs. I suspect that May 6, a Sunday, is a typo in the referenced article.66.90.202.138 (talk) 21:35, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Episode titles

edit

Is there any interest in pointing out where some of the episode titles are derived from? Some of them are references or puns on well-known titles, plays, or expressions in English/American culture. For example, "Déjà Vu All Over Again" is an expression coined by Yogi Berra, "All in the Family" is possibly an homage to the 1970s TV show, "Dead Clade Walking" is a pun on the phrase "Dead man walking", "The One Percent Solution" is a pun on the Sherlock Holmes movie title The Seven Percent Solution, "The Hound of the Cancer Cells" is a sound-alike pun on the Conan Doyle story "The Hound of the Baskervilles", and so on. — Loadmaster (talk) 03:46, 11 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
