Proposed merge of perma-stubs
editFor example, Aspinall (1840s cricketer). There is no biographical information and only one match known to have been played. This is along the same lines as Talk:Chitty (cricketer) and subsequent discussions at Talk:List of English cricketers (1787–1825) - with the building up of this page to be a) complete (as complete as possible anyway) and b) to include brief comments about each player with references for those who we have no article for - along the same lines as List of English cricketers (1787–1825) and so on. - In general I think these are merged now - the process threw up one that had a name and some details, which is excellent. The article will take a little more time - wet, autumn days are the best I find... Blue Square Thing (talk) 08:14, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- Adding Edmund Hurst to this - an odd one as he played for Oxford Uni. No biographical details other than a name and no entry in AO at all - very odd. Blue Square Thing (talk) 22:50, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
- To add to the above - the note I added to this list is interesting. Three Hurst's - two of them local boys from Cowley - on the same side in the same match suggests a set of ringers/fill ins/replacements. Odd that we have nothing at all on Edmund but do on the other two - they're probably brothers, but it's not possible to confirm that. Blue Square Thing (talk) 08:07, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
- Support merge- I agree that articles on players for which we have only a name (or only a partial name) and playing statistics should be merged into a list article. Reyk YO! 08:17, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
- Support; these stubs for players who've appeared in very few matches, sourced entirely from stat-banks, almost always fail GNG & are better merged into lists. wjematherplease leave a message... 09:24, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
