Changes

I don't see any way in which this version is better than this one. I don't see any point in repeating the same fact two or three times; linking the factoid directly to the corresponding row of the table is an improvement in data presentation. Nor do I see why what is essentially a list of miscellaneous trivia should come before the full list that gives the article its name.

If you're concerned about ticking boxes for featured status, I suggest you worry less about padding the article with flabby prose and more about improving the inline references. I added direct links to the FIFA pages for the 1954 matches; this should be done for all matches. The RSSSF reference actually contradicts some of the listed data; if the article states that it is using official FIFA statistics then it should not use unofficial RSSSF statistics. The "No hat-tricks for the first time?" page, which is not a Yahoo reference, doesn't prove there were no hat-tricks in 2006, since it was written before the last four games. I can't find the other Yahoo page; either include a URL for it or remove it as worthless. jnestorius^(talk) 08:39, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Tore Keller is not a hat-trick man

About Tore Keller from Sweden who is noticed as a hat-trick man 1938.

He only scored one goal ( 5-0)

Harry Andersson scored 1-0, 6-0 and 8-0 an he should be in the list.

FIFA has many wrong statistics in their sites. F.e. they have Nils Liedholm in the match for Sweden against Wales 1958 but he did not play that match. (Reino Börjesson played the match).

They also spell Arne Selmosson wrongly ( his name was not Selmonsson).

Feedback

I had a look at the article that was being discussed and I was very happy with the content. It was up to date, all the people listed that were eligable for the category was placed and it was very interesting to know all the players who scored hat-tricks. Thanks for the work.

Variations in FIFA World Cup hat-tricks

According to FIFA.com match reports of Sweden vs Cuba on 12 June 1938, Harry Andersson, not Tore Keller was attributed with a hat-trick <http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/archive/edition=5/results/matches/match=1158/report.html> Also, in the semi-final between Hungary and Sweden on 16 June 1938, Gyula Zsengeller' 1st goal is attributed as an o.g. to Sven Jacobsson (probably a deflection) <http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/archive/edition=5/results/matches/match=1176/report.html> Cris Freddi in his "Complete Book of the World Cup 2002" agrees with these variations, and adds one other, in the match between Chile and USA on 2 July 1950, he attributes Fernando Riera's 32nd minute goal to Atilio Cremaschi, giving him a hat-trick too. Women?

If it is agreed that women should be included, there are many others that have happened, not just Carli Lloyd, including Fabienne Humm's three goals in five minutes against Ecuador in the same World Cup. Forever Everyday (talk) 18:58, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Actually, except a few recent edits, the page is written as if FIFA World Cups were exclusive to men! There really should be three pages: "Men's World Cup" stats, "Women's World Cup" stats, and "World Cup" stats with them combined. So much work and so prone to errors, however. No, "nobody" is wrong; some people do refer to the "Men's World Cup" as it's particularly useful to avoid this confusion. Even match commentators sometimes do. The default, "World Cup", is genderless but for the longer history for the men's competition. It would be simpler for FIFA and Wikipedia and the rest of the world to simply acknowledge that what used to be the World Cup is now the "Men's World Cup." When referring to records and statistics across both competitions, would you instead advocate the combined page be titled "World Cup (Men's and Women's)" and explicitly indicate that the "World Cup" pages refer only to the Men's competitions? Why would there be a combined stats and records page? "Men's" football is inclusive to everybody talented enough, hence the lack of "men's" in every single tournament and team name, women's football is for women and is a separate (non)entity. RealDealBillMcNeal (talk) 20:32, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
