F1 broadcasting in Uruguay

edit

Formula 1 is being broadcasted in Uruguay with a 2-4 hour delay by Monte Carlo Televisión. This channel used to air it live until PSN, later Fox Sports bought F1 broadcasting rights for some Spanish-speaking South American countries. Where should this information be added? -- NaBUru38 18:37, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

ITV streaming online from 2008

edit

ITV are now streaming free practice, qualifying and the race live on their website.[1] I wouldn't be surprised if other countries' broadcasters do the same. 86.21.74.40 (talk) 00:42, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Expansion and New Name

edit

IMO the part on the World Feed should be expanded and the name changed to something like 'Formula One Television" or 'F1 on TV'. Your thoughts welcome :) CF1V8 (talk) 15:19, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've only just registered but I am responsible for the recent revisions to the World Feed broadcasters section. I feel the table of present host broadcasters adds new clarity to this article, over the rather chaotic old system. I've improved the accuracy of the list of former host feed broadcasters, but finding a definitive history for some races will be a challenge.(Incast (talk) 19:33, 19 February 2009 (UTC))Reply
Nice work there Incast! I've rejiged it further, with it now in two main section and a few sub-sections underneath. Thoughts? D.M.N. (talk) 19:39, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Yeah that works perfectly, given that the World Feed Producers are going to be far less useful for most people over the other sections - we should definitely keep with that.(Incast (talk) 20:04, 19 February 2009 (UTC))Reply

Official internet broadcasters (where?)

edit

Here in Italy only a pay-per-view has right for the Live Practice.

If I go there [2] I cannot see the video because "Sorry, this media is not available in your territory", so I think I cannot see also the live streaming. So, probably BBC Online, RTL and La Sexta has right for only some territories and block the other IPs. But what IPs? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.41.54.196 (talk) 21:44, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Middle-east

edit

For the ME broadcasters, it will be Bahrain TV, no more Al Jazeera Sports, news here, sorry I am not good with tables. Yosef1987 (talk) 09:23, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is broadcast through out the Middle-East via the Badr4 satellite, not just Bahrain. Yosef1987 (talk) 14:22, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
And also it features English audio on Bahrain Sports 2 Yosef1987 (talk) 18:37, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

2010 broadcasters

edit

I will add the 2010 broadcasters in the top section, and will leave the 2009 broadcasters on the page until March 2010. CF1V8 (talk) 09:13, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Broadcast in HD?

edit

Speed carries F-1 in HD, or at least it seems to, in 16:9 format. This would seem to make the final paragraph in the first section incorrect? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.23.28.31 (talk) 14:18, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The feed is not HD, but is broadcast on a HD channel. Its the same here in Australia. Also 16:9 format does not imply HD, it is the aspect ratio whereas HD refers to the resolution. I think currently F1 is produced in 720x576px and HD is 1280x720px or 1920x1080px.(Crictv69 (talk) 11:38, 9 June 2010 (UTC))Reply

Free to view coverage

edit

Can the table be edited to show which channels are free to view/air and which are on a pay to view basis, either pay per view or annual contract? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.152.196.46 (talk) 14:17, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Arab league flag???

edit

I've removed the Arab League flag which was being used to represent 'Middle East and North Africa' is it is neither accurate nor appropriate to use in these circumstances. The Arab League is a political organisation not a representation of sports-casting and it does not represent all countries in the region anyway. The use of flags which are "sort of close" should be stamped out. Flags should not be used to provide a bit of colour. --Falcadore (talk) 02:47, 23 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

United States broadcast

edit

Speed TV and FOX have aired Formula 1 for years, most events live, and yet it is not listed on the site. Why is that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akemi Loli Mokoto (talkcontribs) 18:56, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

2011 table

edit

I removed the collapsed 2011 table from the article. We can't have a massive new table like that every year - the article would quickly become too big. I suggest the 2012 table is given a column for "year" or something. Also, the 2011 table (like the 2012 one) was basically unreferenced, so I didn't see any point in retaining it.--Pontificalibus (talk) 14:48, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sources

edit

The current table is basically unsourced. People keep changing and adding details without citing a source to show that these changes are accurate. Unless someone starts adding sources to the table I am minded to delete it as that would seem to be the best way of getting people to start building a sourced version.--Pontificalibus (talk) 15:32, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

The problem is though is that with lots of sources the table would be an absolute mess to edit- perhaps sourcing at the bottom of the table would be a good strategy.--CF1V8 (talk) 04:21, 26 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Biased towards the BBC?

edit

Even though I don't like the BBC, the article has "driver tracker, pitlane feed" etc. whereas Sky doesn't - I don't know about other countries. I'm only requesting this because when I changed from "Short/Extended Highlights" to "Highlights", I got lambasted by an IP address who kept on reverting it! Spa-Franks (talk) 16:52, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Commentator Table

edit

This also says "Jonathan Legard (Canada only)", however, unless I'm very much mistaken, I heard him in Germany this weekend... Spa-Franks (talk) 16:55, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

You are not mistaken, I will adjust the article. Sas1998 (Talk) 19:45, 8 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Spare Commentators

edit

Is it really necessary to have all of the spare/guest commentators in the table? It seems that not to me. It makes the table seem very cluttered and confusing. The main commentators might miss the race for whatever reason, so they have to have spares, but they are not the official commentators though.

A solution could be a footnote, or having small print in the table. Sas1998 (Talk) 08:48, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

NEW US broadcaster

NBC

edit

NBC Sports only broadcasted Practice 1 and 3 for Australia. For the rest of the season, they've only done P2, Quali and Race, like SPEED did for years.--Josh Mertz (talk) 12:54, 4 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Free-to-air/Free-to-view debate

edit

Opening up for debate whether terrestrial FTA transmissions that are encrypted on Satellite should be coloured green (for free) or yellow (for partially free). My argument is in favour of colouring green, and is as follows: -Encrypted signals are free to view terrestrially in the country of origin -A decrypter smartcard is a small, one-off expense, no different to a satellite dish, TV antenna or Set Top Box- in this context the concept of Pay refers to a monthly, ongoing expense for the reception of the service

Currently the affected listings are coloured yellow, but I won't change them to green without a consensus in favour. Comments are ecouraged and more than welcome. :) CF1V8 (talk) 13:24, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

World feed from 1950

edit

I have an idea of the world feed from 1950 for all races available. it can work.92.21.249.57 (talk) 16:54, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Considering the first satellite was not launched until 1957 it's laughable. We don't do time travel here. Wikipedia details what happened in the past. It does not create after the fact. --Falcadore (talk) 01:32, 27 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Falcadore, this IP editor has edited the former world producers section regardless to add years back up to the early 50's. I'm highly doubtful that there was a World Feed back then. In fact, this whole section seems to be original research. There's no source there at all. Tvx1 19:15, 11 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

F1 broadcast in Mexico

edit

For a long time, Formula 1 has been broadcast in Mexico in an open signal through Canal Nueve (Nu9ve) belonging to the Mexican network Televisa through its sports division currently known as TUDN, these transmissions are made at midnight downtown time of Mexico only passing the races and cutting at the end when they finished to go directly to the podium and there close the transmission. This channel broadcasts in 16: 9 and depending on the region it broadcasts SD or HD Televisa or TUDN also has the rights to broadcast the practices, the classification and the race of the Mexican Grand Prix completely live but only and exclusively on Channel 5, this channel broadcasts throughout the country in 16: 9 on HDTV. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juan-meave (talkcontribs) 06:10, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
