Linden bei Deutschbrod (Lipa, Bohemia)
editAccording to autobiographical notes by artist Frederick Terna (b. 1923, Vienna, Austria), the German exonym for Lipa was Linden bei Deutschbrod. He was interned in a Nazi camp there from October 3, 1941 until his deportation to the Auschwitz camp in March of 1943. -- Deborahjay (talk) 06:52, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- For information: there was no post-office in Cisleithania named LINDEN in 1900. It must have been thus a small village.
Disambiguation
editIt is a slow and boring process, but I am working my way down across the links to disambiguation pages. By now, there are about 25 real links left plus 56 links to page of the type "name (disambiguation)". Starting at nearly 200 (!) I have made great progress. But it takes a bit more time then expected (thanks to the extreme boringness).
Handy is that I have participated in the same job on the Dutch Wikipedia, so I can use the Dutch list for solving the links. Night of the Big Wind talk 21:47, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Checking and completing (?) the list - Czech spelling.
editIt is time I explain what I have started. My first idea was simply to add a symbol that refers to the ''Bezirkshauptmannschaften that are noted for each post-office in existence in 1900, based on the Klein book: 94 in Bohemia, 34 in Moravia and 11 in Silesia. For ex. B,68 for Bohemia, Bezirksh. 68 (Pribram). I did not expect that there were so many entries missing. There are thus additions, BUT the Czech spelling is not documented in the Klein reference. It is easy to notice that the sound tsch becomes č but there are many other subtilities that I do not want to guess (the accents like é etc). The new entries have thus to be checked for real, current spelling. It seems that the search algorithm are capable to make some suggestions, but this lengthy work has not been done. A further work of interest would be to associate the 94 Bezirks of Bohemia etc to the current (sub)regions. I note that many lists in the beginning of the article are still void (ex: Central Bohemia). It is also surprizing to see that the external reference German and Czech place names does not give the Czech spelling! Jacquesverlaeken (talk) 22:50, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Original work?
editThe caution This article may contain original research. Please improve it by verifying the claims made and adding references. Statements consisting only of original research may be removed. has been added. I believe it is not relevant. What is missing is a list a references that have been in use by those who produced the first list in German (170.000 bytes!). All my additions and precisions are justified by a first class reference (the list of 6000 postoffices in the Austrian part in 1900). There is no such caution for any other language, so far German, Dutch, Czech, Romanian and Esperanto. The English text is by far now the best documented, and the identification of 136 districts is of clear added value for 'verifiability'.
To be useful, a request for precise tasks is expected. But it is obvious that such compilation of thousands of correlations and wikilinks will never be perfect.
Not in the Czech Lands
editI have removed from the list Arber (mountain in Bavaria) and Audechen (Zalužice)(Slovakia).

Exonyms? Candidate for deletion??
editThe use of words German Exonyms is not valid for countries that were part of the Empire of Austria, as their official name was in German - at least in Bohemia, Moravia etc-, later bilingual for some. See illustrations in the Article, or the Postal History. Jacquesverlaeken (talk) 08:12, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
