Trying To Get Continuity Of Flags For Indianapolis Grand Prix And Ulster Grand Prix
editOver the past couple of weeks, I have been trying to bring in some standardisation to the Motorcycle Grand Prix pages. Most of the work I have done has been to the layout of the past winners tables on the pages for each Grand Prix. However, yesterday I felt I needed a break from it, and decided to tackle something else - the flags used to represent each GP.
It was simple enough to sort out more appropriate flags for the one-off "replacement" races at Jerez and Jarama, and for the COTA races. But then I discovered that two races have different flags representing them depending on what page you visit, and I want some opinions on how to get continuity.
Indianapolis Grand Prix
editThe first is the Indianapolis Grand Prix.
On the List of Grand Prix motorcycle races, it is represented by the Flag of the city of Indianapolis. But, on the pages for the individual seasons in which it was held (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015), it is represented by the Flag of Indiana, the state in which Indianapolis is situated.
For other countries that have more than one Grand Prix, the flag used to represent the races that do not hold the country's name is usually the state or province where the circuit is situated. Largely due to the fact that the cities nearest the circuit don't have their own flags. But Indianapolis does have it's own flag.
So, which flag should be used to represent the Indianapolis GP? The Flag of the city of Indianapolis, or the Flag of the State of Indiana?
In the interests of continuity, I am leaning towards the Flag of the State of Indiana. But, I want to know what other people think before it is standardised.
Ulster Grand Prix
editThe other flag issue is actually to do with the race held in my country, the Ulster Grand Prix.
On the List of Grand Prix motorcycle races, it is represented by the Flag of Northern Ireland, the country of the UK in which the race is held. But, on the European Grand Prix page and on the pages for the individual seasons in which it held World Championship ststus (1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, and 1971), it is represented by the Flag of Ulster, the province of Ireland in which the race is held.
The problem here is that both these flags have developed political connoctations over the years. Most people here associate each of these flags with particular communities: the Flag of Northern Ireland with the Unionist community; and the Flag of the Province of Ulster with the Nationalist community.
Motorcycle racing is one of the few sports here that does not have sectarian divisions. So, I do not want it to develop them on Wikipedia. However, at the same time, we need continuity between all the pages.
So, which flag should be used to represent the Indianapolis GP? The Flag of Northern Ireland, or the Flag of the Province of Ulster?
Personally, I'm happy enough whichever flag gets the nod. Because I am one of those few people that considers them both to be "my flag".
However, for the purposes here, I am leaning towards the Flag of the Province of Ulster. Partly because the race is called the "Ulster Grand Prix" as opposed to the "Northern Ireland Grand Prix". And partly because it is the coat of arms on which this flag is based that is displayed on the logo of the Motorcycle Union Of Ireland (Ulster Centre), who are the governing body of motorcycle racing in Northern Ireland.
Discussion
editSo, could people who want to express a preference please reply by displaying the flagicon and title of the flag that they think should be used for each race, then sign your vote with ~~~~.

This is my first time starting a discussion, so apologies if I have gone about it the wrong way. I don't know what the right way of doing a discussion is!
